While NOT in this magazine article, both Newfound Lake and Squam Lake have excellent motorboat access with their totally free NH Fish & Game boat launch facilities that includes parking for your car and trailer.
Squam Lake is NH's second largest lake and includes two lakes, Big Squam and Little Squam with the boat launch and Walter's Basin restaurant located between the two on the 300-yard long Squam River. Is always EASY to catch a good bite at Walter's Basin even if you is a crappie fisherman and you don't need a $47-annual fishing license to get hooked on a meal at Walter's Basin as you sit there gazing out at the shimmering waters on Little Squam.

I can't see you dinning at Waters Basin unless you brought in your own fish and asked them to cook it.

Lake Umbagog
I'm glad they miss this lake. It is best-left secret. The shorefront is pretty much owned by the state, so no development to spoil the beauty. Probably the best fishing hole in New England, next to Lake Mooselookmeguntic in Maine.
Caught a 19" Rainbow trout in Umbagog. Never saw such a fight from a fish. I had the fish mounted and it on display.
