Default Cicadas???

Anyone know when the Cicadas are expected to appear? They are the 17-year locusts, and this is Year 17. And how long will they last?

While we may get a few out of the norm, my understanding is that the cicadas are a phenomenon well south of here. As in Conn. or south from there.

Default Maryland is loaded with them

Talked to by brother last night. He lives in Maryland. He says they are over run with them right now.

According to those in the know, the cicadas will mainly be seen as far north as central Conn. in large numbers. However all areas that have them will see some increase this year.

The bug folks say that the cicadas will out number the total number of people 6 to 1 in the south. That includes the populations in the big cities.

One "expired" Cicada appeared on my sundeck yesterday. I'd just power-washed the deck, so this one is a "new" find for the Wolfeboro area.

Grasshoppers have been around for a few weeks. Photo 2 is about the right size for a Chipmunk snack.

We've noticed an increased presence in Wolfeboro this Summer, but certainly not what we'd call being overrun.
