Default Kitchen appliance repair?

We bought a 14 year old house in Alton recently and as you would expect, some appliances are nearing end of life.

We have a built in microwave & convection ovens both from Kitchen Aid. The convection oven is fine but it is obvious the microwave is beginning to fade. Perhaps it is the magnatron but I am not an expert. My question is, "who in the Lakes region is?" I have heard about Crown Repair in Center Harbor being very good ( do they come to the Alton area?) and also heard mention of Wells in Wolfeboro. Have you had any experience with them or do you recommend someone else?
Thanks!

We have had good luck with Barron's in Ossipee. They have a repair department. But I will say, it will cost you more for a repair call then to just replace your microwave. It may be worthwhile for the convection oven, but the fee starts at $125/hr.

Default Bob Turcotte

He might be retired now, not sure. I last called him about 2 years ago. He is either in Laconia or Gilford. I believe his trade name is Turcotte Appliance Repair. Used him numerous times over the years for fridges, washers, dryers, and ovens. Very knowledgeable and inexpensive.

Good luck.

Being just a microwave, it may be cheaper simply to replace it if it is that old. The hourly rate for appliance repairs is not cheap.

I have been doing some of my own repairs as issues pop up on non-warrantied appliances. I find that the forums and q/a section on appliancepartspros.com usually will have the answer to troubleshooting questions and you can buy the parts on the same site.

I agree with Rusty in earlier post. Tom at Suncook Appliance Repair is my go to guy for this stuff. Technically savvy. Has worked with me via phone a few times to troubleshoot which is fabulous. I believe he is in Moultonborough area a few times each week.
Family business. Good folk. Reasonable prices.

I did not like Tom at all. Granted we spend a lot of time together-from around May until October trying to get a refrigerator fixed and it got very frustrating for both of us. He fixed thing after thing and nothing worked and Electrolux ended up giving us a credit and we got a Bosch. I,of course, was very frustrated as was he but spending that long without a refrigerator was just awful. Each time something didn't work, he would try something else and when that didn't work he would call Electrolux and they would suggest something else and he couldn't cater to us and come back before two weeks each time and it was just awful. I understood his frustration but that was not an excuse to not be nice to us. I would never use him again. I guess a lot of it depends on the problem and a little luck. Good thing everybody doesn't like the same person I guess. Baron's has somebody from the Laconia area who is wonderful, but I can't remember who it is. You could call them and ask.

Barron's has always referred us to Reliable. I think they're out of Manchester. They have a tech who lives close to this area. He's a little quirky but brilliant at fixing things. We had him out to our cottage to fix our antique washer. He also has done repairs on our new(er) washer when the electronics went. I think his name is Craig. He is a wealth of information.
