I like to take long walks at dusk, along that Mad River Trail in the White Mountain National Forest when every log and every shadow starts to look like a black bear and always tell myself that black bears are actually more afraid of me, than me of it! I tell myself that black bears are very very timid animals!
Well, on Friday morning, June 16, south of Prescott, Arizona ..... https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/17/u...k-arizona.html ..... "a 66 year old man was having a morning coffee while sitting at a table on his property in the Groom Creek area south of Prescott, Arizona where he was building a home." "The bear attacked Mr Jackson and dragged him about 75 feet down an embankment." "Neighbors who heard the victim screaming tried to intervene through shouts and car horns, but the bear did not let go of Mr. Jackson until one neighbor was able to retrieve his rifle and shoot the bear to get him to disengage."
