Default Ralph M. Lovejoy, Inventor

Ralph Lovejoy was my adopted Father. He talked often about his Mother Lizzie, the Hotel, and growing up in Meredith, NH. He bought property on St. Petersburg Beach, Fl. Built 12 beach cottages and named them "Wiggin Cottages" after his Mother Lizzie Wiggin Lovejoy. I grew up there on the beach until he passed in 1953. He is laid to rest in St. Petersburg, FL. All of his properties were sold in early 60's. I am hoping this will add to some of the Lovejoy history.

Default Lovejoys of Meredith

Was David Stillman Lovejoy (1840 - 1929) an ancestor perhaps? He was brought up in Meredith and his wife was Mattie A. Paine.

If his mother was Lizzie then his father must be Solomon Lovejoy who is part of Winni and Bear Island history. And one of the inventions in question is the Lovejoy Shock Absorber.

Meredith maintains the LoveJoy Landing public docks on Meredith Neck. Many people erroneously call them the Shep Brown docks.

Default The Lovejoy's

Yes, Solomon was his father, the Lovejoy Shock Absorber was his invention. I would love to have a copy of some of the Lovejoy history, if its in a book or a website etc. Thank you for your response. Look forward to learning more.

Dockrat,

There is a history book called "Bear Island Reflections" in which the Lovejoys are prominently mentioned. If you will PM me your name and address I will send you a copy as my gift to a descendant of island history.
