Default Garwoods.

My other half and myself went to Garwoods in Wolfeboro the other night. I had never been. We sat up top as it wasn't really busy on a Thursday. At least not when we showed up. Matter of fact I got to park my big truck right at the front door. Dinner was very good. I had the Statler chicker. Nice, moist, tastey. Kathy had the Veal something or other, on a bed of pasta.
At $81.00 including drinks it wasn't cheap, but the drinks brought up the tab. The service was great. Friendly, and pretty quick too. I thought it funny that the bread came in a paper bag. Hadn't seen that before.

Default It is good

Lakesrider:

I agree that Garwoods is a nice alternative in Wolfeboro. THe food is very good and the views are excellent from the upstairs bar/dining room. My experience with the wait staff has generally been positive as well. I'm sure they have expanded their customer following this winter with Wolfe's Tavern closed for renovation and 51 Mill Street frequently shut down.

Not worth the price. Food is okay and drink prices are ridiculous.

The food is always good, we go once or twice a summer season. The menu is very short. There is one fish, one steak, one chicken dish and a few specials. That's why we don't go often.

The prices are tourist level but sometimes a nice cool dark place is just the ticket. Other Wolfeboro visits usually end up at Jo Jo Green's.

I'd probably give Garwood's a 7 out of 10. Dinner portions are on the small side and prices are a little high I feel. We've been for lunch and done fine with burgers and sandwiches. I don't think there's really a lot of choice for dinner in Wolfeboro, I wish there were more. Maybe I should clarify and say there's really not a lot of options to walk to from the docks.

Thanks for the update. I didn't realize there was a Mexican place so close to the docks. I'll have to give it a try.

Mise en place is a little to foo-foo for me but it does get high ratings.

Favorite in town is Mis En Plas. Garwoods is good, consistent and good service - excellent iced tea. El Centenario is good but service is very spotty.

Thumbs up Garwoods is Still a Favorite

After celebrating the New Year in Enfield at Mascoma Lake we made the trip to Winni and over to Wolfeboro yesterday evening.

We stopped for dinner at Garwoods. My girlfriend and I both had the dinner special: Duck with asparagas & garlic mashed. Great meal and so wonderful sitting in the bar watching the snow fall. Service was great too.

Long drive back home but we had a great first day of 2010.

Default Garwoods

I also like Garwoods. I only get there in the summer, but we might be going up next weekend as we are going to sell our summer camp. Can anyone tell me if Christine is still working the bar in the winter. She is a great barmaid.
Thanks

My wife and I had lunch at Garwoods today, on the deck. Good food, great views, reasonable prices and decent service. I've passed this place for years and I'm glad I finally stopped in!

Default lunch with a view

So you can see the harbor if you get a seat by the window? Are there any other restaurants where you can have lunch and view the water? Sounds like some nice reviews of Garwoods.

Oh sure there are places all over the lake!! Lyons Den at Glendale docks, Meredith town docks have numerous places, Shibleys At The Pier in Alton Bay, the Naswa in Paugus Bay to name just a few.

Enjoy!!

Well, in Wolfeboro there is Garwoods, Dockside (right ON the docks), Joe Greens facing the docks, and with a view of Back Bay, Bayside Grill and WolfeTrap.
But not The Lakeview : ).

2 things:

Garwoods is great food. Nice location, nice atmosphere. Staff are super.

Also, the family that runs it is very community minded. They don't crow too much about it, but they are great supporters of a lot of the area non-profits.

We don't eat out too much, but make a point to patronize Garwoods because it is the kind of business that this wonderful region deserves to have.

Default waiting for a table there inside is no fun

We like Garwoods..............BUT..have you ever waited for a table inside?...we put our name on the list and went up to an EMPTY bar area. My wife sat at an open bar stool and I stood behind her. After a minute the manager came over and said I could not stand in the bar area. OK fine, we got up and were shown to the narrow hallway and the side of the restaurant. We hugged the wall for 15 minutes while waiters went back and trying to avoid many of us with full plates of food. We left and avoid it on busy weekends. Someone told me it had to do with their liquor license..??

Default view of water

Thanks.....Garwoods, Joe Greens, Dockside.
I"m just not as familiar with Wolfeboro restaurants.
I do love dinner at Lago in Meredith, or Lake House. There's just something wonderful about having a nice meal, sipping a glass of wine and looking out at the water.

We have learned over the years that unless you want to wait, you go out to eat early.

We went to The Restaurant again last night. Everything was delicious but it is on the pricey side. For four of us it was over $200. That doesn't mean you couldn't pick less expensive items if you want to.

Heard this week that the people who own the Restaurant purchased the lakeview Inn. Has any one else heard that?
If it's true, we will have an other great place to eat at.
