Screen door closers - stop whacking me!
We have those standard pneumatic screen door closers on all our outside doors, and like they always seem to do, they start closing the door really fast before the pneumatic tube kicks in, which then slows the door down abruptly.
The pneumatic tube itself can be adjusted, which changes the door speed once it kicks in. The problem is that this is when the door is almost closed. So when you're trying to get in and out -- probably carrying a tray of something -- you're constantly battling with the door as it hits you awkwardly. Anyone have a good solution to this? Thank you! |

there should be a screw at the end of the tube to adjust the pressure, which alters the speed and rate of close once it catches, other than just adjusting the tube itself on the 3 hole pin adjustment
if not, you can change out the tube to a different style all together like one that you need to hit a button to close so it stays open, or if your door allows, there are door hinges that have the closers in them as well

With the closer removed from the door but still attached to the jamb, close the door all the way. Now pull the closer out slightly so there is just enough tension to keep the door closed. Is it close to your current anchor holes?? If not you may need to move mounting location. If current holes are very close you may need to live with what you have or replace. Good Luck! Dan
