Before Mark Island was wired for dsl we had satellite internet. The latency was annoying and they capped you on usage in 24 hour periods. Cellular was not an option back then, I would go this way now instead.

Not much choice on Welch. DSL from the phone company, now Consolidated Comm, or cellular data. The DSL has slowly improved from 1.5 to 3.0 to 7.0 Mbps. There is no cable or fiber.

I'll agree with codeman, while we're on Rattlesnake which is wired I barely looked at DSL/Satellite. Because we're on the Broads we get great T-Mobile reception so the data is cheap and the speeds are fast. Compared to when I'm on DSL/Satellite cellular is lightning fast. My process for selection was to try different providers (using friends phones and testmy.net) and compare prices. The coverage maps can be misleading - nothing beats a good old fashioned field trial!
