Nascar this weekend

here we go again.

Race Time: Sunday, July 16th 2:10.

Any idea when the masses will hit 93 after the race?

Not positive but I would expect between a 3.5 and 4.0 hour race and then a few minutes more for the traffic to hit.....I wouldn't want to be near concord after about 6:30 or so......but that is just a guess.....I always wait till late or leave extra early.....Why gamble if I don't have too...........

Hi folks, hockeypuck and the little woman will be heading up to the lake form CT Sat. I just saw that NASCAR has a race with a start time of about 2:00pm. I will be on 89 south to Concord and should be there around 11:30 to 12:00 noon Sat. Any predictions on race traffic at that time. Any alternate routes off 89 south between exit 5 and 1 to pick up 3 north ????
any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to cooler air and lobster roll at Waldo Peppers,

NASCAR is not back at Loudon until September.

Coming home last night from Gilford was the worst traffic I've seen in a long time.At 7:00pm the traffic was backed up fom Mosquito bridge to the lights at the Belknap mall.When I got to 93 the traffic was crawling along as far as I could see to the north and south.I went Rt 3 south through Franklin but Concord was stop and go at 7:45pm.I went through after the race in July and drove right through Concord with a lot less delay.

You guys may want to try the Rt106/Rt140 shortcut. From Gilford, get off RT11 onto Rt106 south and then pick up Rt140 west in Belmont. You'll come out right at the McDonalds in Tilton. It may be few miles longer but you miss the Mosquito Bridge and a bunch of traffic lights. Obviously, this route is not a good idea there's something going on at the race track.

Oh believe me,I was wishing I went 106 but the thinking was,Im this far down Rt 3,after I get through the lights at Winnisquam I'll be fine.That's usually the case but not Sunday.I've gone 106 many times and find more often than not it's faster on 93.Oh well,it didn't take away from a great weekend on the lake.

I head north from the lake.....to go to Vermont you guys should try it never any traffic......

ok, ok.....I know not nice of me....but something did occur to me....there are several ways to get over to 91 from the Lakes Region....any of you that head to Conn. or Central or Western Ma. should look at that as an option...... It may take a little longer... but always less traffic.....

RT93 is faster to Concord than RT106, but I was suggesting using Rt 106 to Rt140 to get to Rt93 Exit 20, instead of the more direct route over the Mosquito bridge. But if your stuck on Rt3/11 after the bridge, look for Lancaster Hill road on your right. It ends at Rt 132. From there, a mile south and your at Kalliopes Resturant and exit 20.

Usually,after the Bridge the traffic is fine till you get to Kalliopes so I'm not sure how much that helps.I'll have to try the 106 to 140 though as I've never been that way.How far down 106 is Rt 140?

RT 140 connects to RT 106 about five miles from RT3/11. It's about ten miles total from the RT 106 exit on RT 3/11 to exit 20 on RT 93. It's about 8 miles if you go by the mosquito bridge. So my "short cut" isn't really shorter just less traffic.

I don't always bother with the short cut, just when I think Winnisquam/Tilton might be messy. On the way to the lake, I play it by ear. When I get off exit 20 if it looks bad, I go straight across passed McDonalds and down RT 140.

I've been commuting from Nashua to Mass for 25 years, it seems like I've been stuck in traffic all my life. So when things stop I automatically look for backroads and alternate routes.

Shhhhh.....My Gilford/Concord secret on NASCAR racedays is down 106 through downtown Belmont onto Shaker Road down through Shaker Village, right onto Baptist Rd in Canterbury at the Rte 93 sign but only go as far as Rte 132, then south on 132 right to Concord. On a NASCAR Sunday I can make it from Gilford to Concord in less than 10 minutes longer than a good day coming down 106 all the way. A map will show you that this route actually parrallels 106 and Rte 3 & 93 but right down the middle between the two routes.
