Default Sophie C

My daughter and I saw the Sophie C out the weekend of the 19th, going towards Cow Island. It didn't dock, as it would when delivering mail. We were too far away then to see if there were any passengers.
Then, this past weekend, my husband saw the Sophie C again, both Saturday and Sunday, going passed Sandy and towards Cow. Again, Saturday, he couldn't see if there were passengers, but Sunday, he grabbed the binoculars. Only about 5 people that he could see.

Anyone have any ideas why they would be out? Not enough people for a foliage cruise - unless each ticket was very pricy, they wouldn't begin to cover the fuel costs. We can't figure it out.

Default How quickly things change...

When I posted the link, there was info on the site that said the Mount was chartered this past weekend, and that the Doris and Sophie were running daytime cruises in its place.

I have seen the Mount come into Alton with very few people on board, but a schedule is a schedule. I'm sure the powers what be take all this into consideration when setting the rates each year.

I would assume the Sophie C gets some funding from the USPS which would defer its costs during the off season.
