Default Amphibious vehicle on NH waters

Does anyone know if amphibious vehicles such as Argos that are made to float and be propelled by spinning wheels or even an outboard or electric motor can be operated in NH waters?
I know that wetlands are off limits but I can't find anything about amphibious on ponds and lakes in the regulations.

I've seen water cars in the lake. Usually didn't go far from the dock or launch ramp. This was in Glendale near MP headquarters, so I doubt illegal.

What Descant said...

I have seen the AmphiCars in Paugus bay on calm days... Not sure how well an Argo will do in the rougher spots or places with a strong current like Weirs Channel. Pretty sure you need bow numbers too.... and all relevant safety equipment.

Oh for sure the Argo would be only for calm waters and most certainly not Winni!
Just can't find any regulations on them...

I would think that just as long as its registered as a boat you are fine to take it on the water. I do know the Amphicar has to be registered as a car and a boat if it going to be driven as both. So I would think if it acts as a boat it needs to be registered as a boat.
But the Argo is more of an ATV and I would assume only going across small ponds and streams rather than using it as a boat to go fishing or something like that. So if that's the case it is in the water for such a short time and not in any length of time that it wouldn't be an issue to register it as a boat.
But that's just my thoughts of what might be logical.

Default Amphicars

Speaking of Amphicars:Many years ago I saw one in a parade that had a sign on the back that read: "If Ted Kennedy had one of these he would be President now"

But if you want a multi-purpose vehicle that will be fun to use on the water try this:

I've seen that baby blue one in Meredith Bay and in Alton Bay near the grandstand, so he does get around and far from home.

I'm guessing he stays near shore instead of going straight across the Broads.

If you watch the car auctions on TV - these cars have quite a cult following and some bring huge money depending on the level and quality of restoration. Not sure what the attraction is - but if it was made there are those that collect them I guess. I have a buddy that spent big bucks to restore a 1975 Ford Pinto.... my first question was WHY?!?

Some people do the darndest things!

I would say if you intend to operate it as a boat, you'd have to register and equip as such.
Sorta like how I can operate my tracked atv as a snowmobile, and down any legal snowmobile trail, if I double register.

The red Amphicar that I've seen mamy times in the area definitely had a hull/bow number lettered on it.
I spoke to the owner of it up on Meredith derby weekend.
He was interested in my atv, said he's buying one soon. He mentioned the car, I assumed it was the one I'd seen before. Didn't realize there were several in the area.

Here's a 1943 VW Schwimmwagen amphibious vehicle ... www.oldbug.com/schwim1.htm ... a 75-year old .... look'n totally ready for anything with a shovel, paddle, and rifle ... located on west coast, U.S., prior to sold.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQPJc441NVg Several Schwimmwagens in the Peene River near Demmin, Germany in 2007.

Obviously, what it needs is a camouflage colored foam noodle!

Still photos of a Ford Sea Jeep GPA (General Purpose Amphibian) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq_yG42LjNo

Supposedly, could be a fake Russian copy of the real 1943 Ford, made in the USA...... who you gonna believe? If it was Russian made, it be a dilapidated wood wagon, and be pulled by a tired, old donkey doing the donkey paddle.

And, here's a Volkswagen 1942 Schwimmwagen, 59-second, Nazi Germany, WWII propaganda film short that may be authentic (?) but probably not, because is just too crisp to be a real reel of film from WWII: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S59Z7dfvj50
