Default Bobcat Pic

Here's a great Bobcat pic that a friend caught on his game camera in Caanan, NH about three weeks ago. The date on the pic is incorrect.

Big cat!!

Nice picture of one of our native critters that isn't seen all that often. Thanks for posting it. To my eyes, compared to the grass blades and the pine needles, the size looks about typical for the species.

My guess would be 15" tall at the shoulder.

NH Fish & Game puts the average male around 19"-22" at the shoulder, so if your estimate is right this could be a lady bobcat.

I'd say about 22". The grass is probably 3" anyway.

Maybe that's a good thing!

Excerpt:
Quote:
Worried [the 10 month-old pup] would become the bobcat's next meal, Ortorf says he stepped between the two animals.

“It jumped on her and I grabbed it by the back of the neck and tried to throw it into the woods, but it kind of latched onto my arm,” he said.

The entire encounter, Ortolf says, lasted five seconds.
