Default The Yard Birds

Activity at our feeders is increasing. I took these two this week, a male Northern Cardinal and a Black-capped Chickadee. I recently got a new camera body so I was anxious to use it.

Default Awesome Shots Paul !!

Had these guys around my feeders lately .. Couldn't get the Cardinal "clean" like you did!

I feel bad for the Cardinal.. it's been "calling" for the last three days..but I haven't seen a Female.

Am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be about music?

I love to see cardinals. I guess I just like the color red.

I love when the Yardbirds pose on a branch.

Default bird feeders

I live outside of Boston and have had very few birds at my feeder this winter. Usually have plenty of cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches as well as a visiting wren and red bellied woodpecker. I've only bought 2 bags of seed. where are they? I wonder if it's because of the mild winter. I've missed them.

They, well some of them, were still around in 2003 and they pulled in a few big names.. even "Slash.." was on this album..

I also live outside of Boston (north shore) and my feeder has been quite active. What are you using for seed? I use sunflower hearts (shells removed). Last weekend I even had 4 Bluebirds. The two males were brilliant blue. I have never seen Bluebirds at my feeder before. It was a real treat. They only hung around for a day or so.

Default For The Birds

At our home in southern NH, we have over a dozen different species of birds visiting our feeders. Entrees include black oil sunflower seeds, thistle seeds, a special commercial finch food mix, another special commercial mix of various seeds, kernnels of corn from a farm in Indiana, a delicious homemade mixture of bacon drippings, corn meal and peanut butter put into holes drilled into a short log section, as well as suet blocks. Of course, sguirrels, pineys and chipmunks indulge in our offerings. These repasts are washed down with a vintage selection of water from our heated birdbath.
