Default Warehouse Fire and Children's Book Fundraiser

In April 2019, a fire at Enfield Distribution destroyed over 2500 copies of my children's books about Lake Winnipesaukee. I was not insured and fire wiped out my entire inventory of 3 out of my 4 books. The Winnipesaukee Adventure series had been selling well but this loss makes it impossible for me to reprint the books without your help.

I am trying to raise the money to reprint the books through pre-sales. If you contribute, I hope to ship books by mid-summer. More details are here:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/r...te_edit=true#/

Please share with others who might be interested.

Thanks for your help,

Andy Opel

Are these books for younger kids or older kids? Is it possible to see inside a copy?

Also, is the Mansion book about the Kona Mansion?
They sound really interesting to me.

Default books

I've been reading them to my now 5 & 7 year old boys for several years. They make great bedtime stories, not too long

I always say they are for kids from 3 to 93! The detailed artwork is watercolor from Karel Hayes and captures the look and feel of the lake with real accuracy. The stories are centered around 3 kids and their grandmother plays a key role.

You can see some images on the FaceBook page - https://www.facebook.com/LakeWinniAdventuresBooks/

Thanks for your interest in the books!

The Mansion is about the Stilson Hutchins house that was on Governor's Island. Built in 1885, Hutchins was the founder of the Washington Post and hosted many dignitaries over the years. The house fell into disrepair and was "haunted" in the '30s, finally burning in 1935.

The remains of the foundation are still in the woods, more toward the center of the island.

The owners of Enfield Distribution said that they had insurance to cover the loss, per this article: https://www.vnews.com/Canaan-company...-fire-24699593

Assuming that is so, wouldn't their insurance carrier be required to compensate you fully for the loss?

It shouldn't matter whether you were insured, so long as they were insured, correct?

The inventory of each author was not the property of Enfield and we were supposed to carry our own insurance. I didn't pick that up in the small print of my contract so . . . here we are. Live and learn, the hard way sometimes.

These books look great and I'd like to order them for our lake house.

Can someone please direct where to order them?

Thanks in advance

Yes. Just click on the website that the original poster(OP) has listed. That’s how I ordered mine.

Andy,

We just received our set of four books today and they are fantastic! Beautiful illustrations and great stories that will definitely be remembered. These will make a wonderful gift for our granddaughter. Thanks so much for persevering in bringing these back for us all!

Default Another set

Hi Andy,

We too have received our set of four books. This set will stay at the family cottage. We have given many copies of your books to grandchildren, great nephews & nieces to their great enjoyment. These books are great for sharing and refreshing our memories of great times at Winni.

Thanks again,
Cindy
