Farmington's "Uncle Sam"
This must have been a blast to ride on, must have been such a fun time.

Fascinating! A truly well-written story that makes one long for times gone by when things were so much simpler. Thanks so much for sharing that, Riverat! Would love to see a larger photo.

That is one cool story. I think we may have finally stumped McDude on this one. Please make a liar out of me.

Absolutely fantastic story. Could you imagine riding on that sled, that would have been a great day!

Large sleds.
I remember back in the '50's, someone had a sled built by the laconia car works boat shop that carried a dozen folks. They would go to the Laconia Country club where there is a loooong gentle slope. It was a quite a sight!
I can only recall a Morin family owned it at that time. Haven't seen it since.

In the picture enlarged by Yosemite Sam you see the Laconia Hotel (1955)
and the Laconia Library

I LIKE IKE!
mcdude, I read this morning that the NY TImes is going to start charging for viewing their on-line paper. No more freebees I guess. Hard to understand this logic from a marketing standpoint. |
