My dad, who was born in Wolfeboro in 1929, has recently finished a book called "Twins in a Two Room Schoolhouse" about his mother, Ethel Scott (Wallace) and Edith Scott (Tinker), who taught in the South Wolfeboro School when it was a two room schoolhouse in the early part of the twentieth century. It's full of local history and photos--a great picture of life in Wolfeboro at that time. The twins' father, my great grandfather Nathaniel Scott, was the town doctor.
To quote from the blurb: James M. Wallace grew up in Wolfeboro, NH, immersed in a traditional extended New England family. He has spent much of his adult life teaching and writing about schools and teachers. His books, articles, and reviews deal primarily with educational reform and with the education of immigrants. His degrees are from Earlham, Haverford, and Harvard. He is now eighty-two years old, and devotes his retirement to writing.
