Default Bye Bye Summer

Wow, that was fast... Spent an hour outside this evening looking the length of the broads and didn't see any other sign or human life... No boats, people, cars... Nothing. Not even any lights (since it was so foggy and nasty). I loved it.

There was so much traffic leaving Wolfeboro heading south it took me ten minutes to get out across the road to head North. But then at around 3:30 I had to go back out and there wasn't a car in sight heading South...Weird... To me Summer isn't over until the Loons head out.....Get it? Huh? Huh?

Default Right from the old Don Henley song...

...."The Boys Of Summer"

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets The sun goes down alone
I'm driving by your house
Though I know you're not home....

Great tune though!

I like to think that summer officially ends on Columbus Day.

I enjoy the lake year-round. Winter is great with less traffic

Default The Winni Season

Personally the Winni season starts after labor Day and weather permitting, ends Thanksgiving. There are many beautiful days on the lake after Columbus Day.

I miss the loons

Default Endless Summer

Summer here runs year round. At times, the lake gets a bit stiff, but then you get to go skiing instead of boating. "Summer" is but a state of mind.

Default beautiful artwork

Cate, that is beautiful Captures the lake for me, and I too have set it as my background - I am far far away now, in the Midwest - but in spirit, still at the lake. September is the BEST month.

Yes-it is water color. I've been practicing all summer. I have a series I am calling the "Pontoon Paintings" that were painted while anchored in our pontoon boat in the Varney Islands. (I learned how to paint while rockin- and rollin' in boat wake waves) I am hoping to build a body of work and frame the best and sell them in town.

I will say that trying to paint these landscapes had forced me to look at our lake in great detail in all kinds of light. A most pleasurable past time.

Cate, are you any relation to a Franklin Poole who lived in Wakefield MA and painted many scenes of the town in the late 1880's?

I'd definitely be interested in buying some prints if you ever decide to make them. This is just beautiful.
