Looking for chinese food options close to Gilford. It seems to be slim pickings.
Any experiences with Shanghai in Laconia or China Garden in Belmont? Not looking to go out towards Moultonborough for it. I did pick up takeout at Eastern Paradise at the Ridge on the way home one night last week. It was ok, but didn't wow me. |

We were going to order from China Garden, but switched gears to Lanna Thai, which is very good. A little different than Chinese, but just as appetizing! Good luck! |

In Tilton is pretty much about it on the WalMart side of the pond. China Garden is the best closed to home but not as good as the Green Ginger.
If you like Thai food, Lana Thai is very good.

I third Green Ginger (Chinese) and Lanna Thai. Vong’s in Tilton is also a good Thai option.

I realize this place is in Concord, but it's our go-to place anytime we're traveling back home. The Tea Garden is located on Main Street in Concord next to the Holiday Inn downtown. Easy 4 minutes off exits 15W or 14 from Rt93. I've traveled extensively to China, and found the hot-and-sour soup at Tea Garden to be the absolute best I've tasted. Very reasonably priced menu with very authentic taste.
Regarding local lakes region Asian cuisine, Green Ginger would also be our choice. |

Depending on where in Gilford, I think Lee Wah in Moultonborough might be worth the drive.
The last half dozen times we ate there were awesome. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by thinkxingu; 12-31-2022 at 03:48 PM. |

I hear the sushi is very good. I don't eat sushi often so I can't really speak from experience, just what I have heard from people I am dining with.

Last night we ventured over to Green Ginger in Tilton.
The food was very good (although I am just getting over covid and I don't have all my taste and smell back yet). Portions were odd, some larger than expected but most were smaller. The pupu for two looked like a 1 person serving. The lo-mein was small but priced less than I see elsewhere. The beef teriyaki was great, so were the other items we tried. And we tried a lot... The scorpion bowl was a waste. Premade, poured from a gallon jug and served in a large glass, it looked more like a margarita. |

I like the food at Shang Hai, no need to travel far IMHO.

I didn't realize Shang Hai was take-out only these days. We tried to go last week and no-go. Ended up back at Green Ginger.
I picked up Eastern Paradise (Rochester at the Ridge) on the way north a few nights ago, still don't love it but the family wanted chinese. |

Agreed. We picked up from there tonight as we were passing by. Ok, but no where near as good as Sea Bird in Wolfeboro where we normally go.
