Default Mail Boat

The Covid compliant Doris E. began mail deliveries to the islands today. Social distancing passengers on board.

The bad news. . . no ice cream. Yet

Does the mail boat deliver to any island or just certain ones?

The mail boat only stops at certain islands.

Maybe I'm mistaken but isn't the Sophie C the mail boat?
Or is it a COVID victim?

Sophie C was the mailboat but had spent the last couple seasons drydocked getting major hull work done.

It is no longer in drydock, but I have not seen it at Weirs yet. My guess is, it was launched and sits in Center Harbor, but not yet ready to return to service.

She is back in the water and has been for a while. My guess is they still have more work to do given how long she sat idle. It wouldn't make sense to rush her into service, at this point, given the effects of covid 19.... Rather they can take some time and get her properly shaken down.... so that when she returns to service she is dependable, and ready to move forward for several years to come.....

Sophie C. is not ready yet. The Mount and Doris have needed modification to make them Covid compliant. Also there is a railway in Center Harbor. It pulls the Mount out of the water every few years for hull painting or major repairs. It is not functional, and is getting a major overhaul. This all has delayed the return of Sophie.
