Default Even on Vacation....

This Hawk decided to visit us by landing on our balcony....I am in West Palm right now. I wonder if it migrated down from the Lake. Could have right? Sorry it is through the slider window to the balcony...





I sure would not want to be on the receiving end of those talons or that beak....

This actually appears to be a Peregrine Falcon.

Oh yeah good call. I just babbled out Hawk. Correct now that I look at my own pictures it is a Falcon. Still pretty cool it landing there while I had my camera right there.

Default Peregrine info

The Peregrine is the fastest creature in the animal kingdom. I think they pull 9-Gs when the dive to catch food (usually another bird). They are awesome birds. I have been fortunate to be invited to participate in the banding of the young falcons in Manchester (they nest on the Brady Sullivan Building). Here is a photo of one of the chicks (at least I hope I am inserting it correctly!!)
