Default How Many Times

How many times have you typed out a response in some contentious thread....Where you HAD a Valid Opinion.....And Then........just said to yourself...NAH....(Severly Biting Your Lip). Deleting your response and moving on.....Reluctantly. Just wondering. Am I alone..? NB

NB

Why do you think that I've posted so rarely over the past year or so? Not for lack of interest in either the forum or the lake, I assure you!

Frequently. Sometimes, like today, I'm planning my response and decide that it will just keep someone else going, so I step away from the keyboard.

I probably abort more post than I submit.

We can only wish that some of us would do it more often.

Now, should I post this or not???

I definitely delete more frequently than post. I like to review my post and then realize it does not advance or add new perspective.

I also find I can dig my own thoughts into a hole and find it is to hard to stay concise. Delete is the easy way out!

I've been posting a long time (not just here) and as time goes on I find myself deleting more and posting less.

I also have deleted or softened a few after I posted then.

Finally, I have a few I wish I never posted.

Lately is seems more acute. Some Senator recently said that the voters are "sour" right now, I think that sums it up. Last time I felt like this, they called it "malaise".

I have to remind myself, there are real people on the other end of the wire.

Default Sometimes less is more

As a seldom heard from member of this forum, I find sometimes just reading and not responding works just fine. Usually all aspects of a topic are eventually discussed. Usually when I post, it is because I care to share a personal experience based on the topic. Happy summer everyone!

Maybe I am not that good of an author, but some of my replies don't read the same way as I meant to write them. I also see how some people take things so seriously here. I am new here, so I am learning on what to get embroiled in and what to stay away from.

I think it helps to write what you think, even if you do delete it. At least you get it off your chest, if only for a few moments.

I still find the wisdom and information that I gain here is very much appreciated. This winnipesaukee.com is a great site. Thank you for it.

Sadly I no longer post. Not worth it. I do still read some posts but I find they so quickly go off point and turn into bashing that even that is no longer worthwhile.
I find the this site to be an incredible resource to learn about what is happening on the lake but the negativity of the few destroys any inclination to write or join the discussion. Additionally it seems that no post goes unchallenged so even the “news” becomes suspect.

I often start a reply and then rethink what I am doing, there are many many responses that I have that never make it onto threads.... quite often I decide it just isn't worth the aggravation... and because I know that if I make my comment mud slinging will start...

I avoid posting unless I feel VERY strongly.
Usually someone has my opinion by the time the day is over anyway and this way I avoid being the controversy.

You and me both.

But I usually mean what I say.

I have as of late, taken more time to think about pressing submit and have opted out more than in.

The ones I delete usually get rewritten about 4 times before I realize that there is really no nice way to say what I want, when I am in that form of discussion.

Mostly my problem is that I have a hard time writting a short response, well I guess you get that point.

I've been a lot more active on here lately, considering I've been around this site since well got to be close to it's launch many years ago.

I've never pulled back any posts I've made but at the same time I spend a considerable amount of time putting my thoughts together then read and re-read what I have to say, many times making slight changes along the way to better emphasize what I feel is my most relevant statements. If entering into the fray of a hotly debated topic I tend to scrutinize what I say even more not that I want to water down my position or opinion, but to keep it sounding intelligent and coherent and not combative. Probably the reason why I tend to write long ones too - figure sharing a point of view requires more than just a one liner opinion, but the thought process that leads one to come to a particular conclusion. See I did it again
