Default Gas Tax Refund

So I returned from a week at the lake and was sorting things out, getting back to the normal swing of things. I just looked at a receipt I got for gasoline purchased last week at Melvin Village gas dock and noticed that it is only the credit card receipt. No listing of # of gallons purchased or cost/gallon, only a total price.

My question is, when I submit my receipts to get my gasoline tax refund at the end of the year, will this one get bounced? I have a feeling it will. Will they bounce the whole submittal or just deduct that slip from the total refund? It will be the first time I have encountered this type of situation so not sure what happens. Does anyone know what happens in this case?

Do you think I might be able to get Melvin Village to write up the required slip after the fact??

Default Receipt

I know Meredith marina asks if you want it for the refund and supplies the info. Only issue is I think they are $2.99-$3.05 last I checked.

Default FBY Receipts

Our boat registration number is written on our gas receipts at Fay's Boat Yard.

Default Regular?

Many marinas save the receipts for regular customers and mail them to you at year end. Perhaps that's where your receipt is? Otherwise, there should be no problem getting a full receipt from the marina based on your CC slip.

Default Got It!

So I called Melvin Village Marina this morning and spoke with Barb who was more than helpful & very pleasant to speak with. I emailed her my receipt and she happily emailed me back an official Melvin Village Marina receipt with the gallons purchased and price per gallon.
How simple was that!
I have heard many good things about MVM and I have to say, so far they have not given me any doubt as to why people say they're one of the best marinas on the lake!

I always ask for a separate receipt when I buy gas at a marina. I tell them it is for the state refund. They write on the receipt everything that is needed. On the other hand I get gas for my jet ski at the gas station. I merely submit my pump receipts and the state excepts them.

I typically do the same but they were closing and there were 2 other boats waiting so I was a bit rushed and forgot to look.

So maybe it wasn't "required but I feel better now that I have it. It's only $10 bucks but it's MY $10 not the state's!

It's looking like I'll spend about $500 on gas this summer--any ideas how much of a refund I would get on that?

100$ Or less most likely. Think when I submitted it last year it was .22c

I can't post the form from my cellphone

Default How much $$

At $3/gallon, that's about 165 gallons. $0.24 per gallon is $40. If you fill in the form, but think the $$ isn't much, you can check the block that says give to the Navigation Safety Fund (MP) or to Lake Preservation (Milfoil) fund. That is a tax deductible donation. If you do nothing, a percentage goes to Fish & Game and the rest goes to the general fund and you don't get the tax deduction.
