Default Cam questions-whats it take?

hello al, Just a quick question. I have a place on Hansen cove and am contemplating a web cam. Can someone give me the 50 cent version of what installing a web cam takes?

thanks

You could try this also: http://www.eyespyfx.com/index.htm

It's a free reflector site in the U.K.. I have a webcam running at home and I can see what's going on in my yard when I go on vacation.

You'll need some sort of an always-on Internet connection, and a router/firewall that can do basic port-forwarding (which is pretty much anything these days).

Setup the cam on your local network, give it a static IP, and set your firewall to forward the appropriate ports to the camera's IP address.

It's 3 minutes of work. Shoot me a PM if you need more help.

Check the webcams available on iPhone app: worldview.
registered at webcams.travel

Also one's browser; quite interesting.
If your cam is not there, please register; no idea what's involved.....

Default dial-up cam

If you are not streaming video you can get away with a dial-up line. Snake Eyes is still using a dial-up connection since broadband/dsl is not available to many islands.

You need a webcam that does not need a computer to operate, an internet connection, (broadband, dsl, dial-up isp), and a website to which your camera can upload your pictures.

If you use the incamera web capabilities, then you need an always on connection and will have lots of people using up your bandwidth since the images or video will be from your location.

If you have always on and a computer you can get away with a simpler, cheaper camera. You might not be satisfied with the image, however. This is a good cheap setup for monitoring a home.

Have Fun
