Default Tubing Law Discrepancy

Hi!
Just noticed that the https://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/...atrol/faq.html says no more than two people can be towed whereas the official boating guide says up to six.

Is this just a case of the NH.gov website not being updated, or do I have an old boater's manual?

Thanks!

According to this article: http://newenglandboating.com/news/nh...owing-law.html, the law was changed in 2012.

http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/.../270-D-mrg.htm270-D:3 III. No more than 6 persons may be towed on one or more inflatable tubes and no more than 2 persons may be towed on water skis, aquaplanes, or other devices from the same motorboat at the same time. When 3 or more persons are being towed, 2 observers, in addition to the operator, shall be in the towing vessel. Such observers shall be 13 years of age or older. Notwithstanding this paragraph, more than 2 skiers may be towed if a special permit is issued by the director.

Default Recently pass

Better check again. It came to my attention someone request a change that no observer is needed for water skiing in certain cases. It was a hot subject among SBONH, the legislature and marine patrol. I would call the marine patrol.

Default Senate Bill 16

SB16, passed this year, allows no observer on a certified slalom course when using a specific type of competition tow boat. There are only a few of these courses in the state and they are "sunk" when not in use, so not available to the general public. This really has little to do with recreational water skiing. There was not much controversy on this bill. House and Senate both passed the bill without amendment on "voice votes".

Hi all, it looks like the link I listed above has been updated to reflect the new (2012) rule changes, but I have another question: is there a limit to the number of tubes? We just scored a second flat tube, so I'm wondering what we'd need for spotters if we had two tubes with one kid on each--still one spotter?

It has been a while but was it not fore every "SKIER" there had to be an individual "SPOTTER"?

Would that not hold true for the NUMBER of Tubes??????

Right, but can they be on separate tubes? Also, how to hook up two tubes on pontoon?

Reading it it seems clear to me you just need 1 observer for 2 being towed, even on individual tubes.

It limits tubers to 6 total without regards to # of tubes...
and specifies 2 observers if 3+ tubers are towed.
Logically 2 tubers, on 2 tubes, requires 1 spotter.

No idea on HOW to do it...

Tie both lines to the same center tow point and make sure the lines are exacrlt the same length, don't ever tie them to opposite corners, you'll clothesline your tubers that way.
