Default Possible opening date?

4 years ago my sister said she wanted to go to Woodshed for her 60th birthday. Well it's Feb. 2016. We were devastated when it burned. Lots of memories there. I doubt it will be ready by then. Anyone know anything? I would love to surprise her.

One can only hope that when open after a sizable expense, they will attract more than the "Special Occasion" crowd that seemed to be the bulk of a dwindling trade prior to the fire.

Doubtfully , the location is very out of the way , the new place is not all that similar to the old place , this will be one of those special occasion places that will be empty except during season .
Might be a good deal at a foreclosure sale for the next owner

I'll pass this on to the present owners so that they will know what's in store for them after they open up for business. I'm sure they will be happy to get the news.
One question if I may: Do you know when the foreclosure might take place?

I for one am very excited to have the Woodshed back. It's not out of the way as some describe it. Also, the several dozen times I went there it was never for a special occasion. Whether for drinks with a few friends and relatives, or dinner with family, it was just that.

Can someone tell me where the restaurant is? Also, as long as the price and food is reasonable, we'll be there. It's the "faux busy," overpriced restaurants that we avoid.

Easiest way is take Rt. 109 south off of rte. 25 and turn right on Lee Road. Google maps still shows the restaurant still standing, but its an old satellite pic. The new Woodshed is at the same location corner of Lees Mill Rd and Lee Road. They have fencing around the construction site now.

Yes, it's right around the corner from Buckey's. You turn on Lee Road, pass by the mini golf course and its right up the road at the junction of Lee Road and Lee's Mill Road. It's really not that out of the way especially for those of us in Moultonborough. We typically end up going into Center Harbor or Meredith when we go out for dinner anyway so this is as close or closer. Really liked the old Woodshed so hopefully the Woodshed 2.0 is good as well.

It is geographically very close to Bucky's and hopefully will be miles apart in quality and atmosphere when it opens. One can only handle so many pic-up trucks with beer and supper.

Not much else to do in Moultonborough but drive your pick-up , drink, and eat. A few drinks and the quality of food goes up...it's the hillbilly way.

Rusty and across america, I will be at buckeys friday night in my pickul truck. It is a red ford diesel pickup truck. Please either one of you ask for for me by name (John Harrington) and we can further discuss your issues with pickup trucks.

Sorry Don.

I don't have any issues with pick-up trucks...so what else do you want to talk about?

Default Back to the thread...

We can't wait for the new Woodshed to open, and not just for special occasions. Do they have an estimate on their opening date? I know it's early and they are still in construction but we loved the old Woodshed. The rolls baked in the little clay flower pots were just awesome. I hope they are part of the new offering. If I remember correctly , they used to do a surf and turf with filet minion and baked stuffed shrimp that was out of this world.
YUMMMM! Great.....Now I'm hungry...

What will all you nostalgia buffs do if, perish the thought, the new owner of the Woodshed decides that he would like to run his own restaurant instead of operating a clone operation of the last several people one of which failed at the business.

This is what happened to the folks at Sandy Point, they never had a chance to operate "their" restaurant but had to try to duplicate the past owners business. In the restaurant trade such an attempt very rarely works. So maybe, let the poor guy open and see what he has in mind before heaping all manner of impossible demands on his back.

Anyone know if it'll be called The Woodshed? If so, I think it's safe to say that with the same name, location, and style building that it's reasonable to assume it'll be very similar to the old Woodshed.

I've heard the guy is a nostalgia buff that wants to recreate the old atmosphere. Also heard he's very successful and capable. I'm guessing he has a good plan.....imagine if he was able to lure Lynn back....woo hoo.
Don't have any inside info....just the talk.

Why so negative? We have a well to do owner who is doing his best to provide a dining option that all of the former Woodshed customers will enjoy. Lighten up and Skip and go Naked!

Real hillbillies keep their pickups on cinder blocks next to the broken washing machine in the front yard of their single wide.

Acrossamerica, your snobbish, urban attitude is not welcomed here. Bucky's is a nice eatery and tavern with good food and a diverse clientele of friendly locals and folks from down below. No reason to be mean and dis the place. Anonymity is a cowards tool. P.S. I own a car also. I just prefer my trucks.

The best thing about Moultonborough is that it's sandwiched in between Meredith and Wolfeboro, where you can find great cultural activities.

I really hope the new Woodshed can establish a clientele that will allow it to be successful. Also that it can attract a staff that is willing to work in such a secluded part of the Lakes Region area.

We're actually "sandwiched" between Sandwich, Center Harbor and Tuftonboro. All the lakes region towns are different but all nice in their unique way.

Moultonborough is a great little town with a great combination of good service and low taxes.

Why are you trying to cause trouble?

Sandwich, Center Harbor, and Tuftonboro also benefit from the Meredith and Wolfeboro culture.
I'm not trying to start trouble, I'm just stating my opinion of the area. Some might not agree with it but this is how I see it.

I wouldn't trade Moultonborough for the world over any other town on the lake. Meredith and Wolfeboro are lucky to have Moultonborough a short distance away with a much more secluded country lifestyle. Hands down the best area of the lake when it comes to scenery and lake activities.

It's a Thursday evening and I just passed Bucky's. The parking lot was full and cars and SUV's out numbered trucks at least 4 to 1.

LOL... I know what you are saying and agree with it, but I don't personally like the Bucky's management nor staff.... just a personal preference, but I like their business model.

We chose Moultonborough because we were looking for a place to get away from the daily grind. Does Moultonborough have the quaint shops of Meredith or Wolfeboro, no. Does that bother me, no. Every town in the Lakes Region adds a little bit to the culture of the area. We rented for eight years before figuring out where we want to buy.

I really hope everything goes well for the new Woodshed. They are obviously making a large financial investment. Somewhat ironic that its location (in a "such a secluded part of the Lakes Region") is about half way between the cultural mecca's of Meredith and Wolfeboro. The reality is, not much is "close" in the Lakes Region. If they do a good job with the food and service, people will come.

I'm not trying to start trouble, I'm just stating my opinion of the area. Some might not agree with it but this is how I see it.
I hope this statement is close to correct.
I believe that there are more bedrooms in Moultonboro then any town in the lakes region
I've heard population numbers of 4,500 year round 45,000 on a weekend night they don't all have to shop here but they've got to eat

They'd best be pretty well heeled if they plan to eat regularly at the Woodshed.

Quality costs.

I suspect the new woodshed will be as busy as the old. I was up a little before christmas a few years ago during the week and went and it was busy . I for one will welcome the reopening

If they are that busy they are in trouble . The last owner bought the place for a song about a year before the fire at a foreclosure sale . Foreclosure sales are not usually a sign that a business is busy or doing well .

Often foreclosure sales are a reflection of a company's capital structure or lack thereof. Too much debt can bring down even healthy companies.

Don't have any inside info....just the talk.
Speaking of nostalgia Sam, some very close friends of mine were antique collectors, extremely talented, and Excellent Cooks. Well when Jack decided to retire from the Trucking Industry, they purchased an old barn, dismantled it and used it to remodel a building that they turned into a restaurant and named it ( Nostalgia Tavern ). Now I know how everyone likes pictures, on the side, so here goes.

And, by the way, my first real job was washing dishes, at the tender young age of 8, at Mom's Kitchen, LA, the Grayhound Restaurant, Santa Barbara CA, and The Reporter Restaurant, downtown Santa Barbara, CA.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled Topic...

Default Opening - Spring 2016

I think there's a sign on rte 25 in Moultonborough that says opening in the spring of 2016.

Default Keep an eye on The New Woodshed's new website

Says the restaurant is opening in May, consistent with previous reports, and there's a phone number inviting people to call.

http://newwoodshed.com

They've also just started a Facebook page, but nothing there yet except link to the website:

Default Pre-Opening Dinner Party

The New Woodshed is hosting an invitation only, pre-opening dinner party on May 5th.

It should be open to the public soon after that.

Default Fantastic

I went on a tour of the New Woodshed yesterday- it looks great! Very well done. I, along with many others here, cannot wait to have this place back

Greg did note that there are a few hiccups with the website, but they are working on that.

How would you describe the restaurant building? Any similarities to the old facility. Thanks

It is similar from a room type perspective, but different in layout. The barn is about the same size but without the second level. There is a porch (with banners!) and a nice lounge with hightops and a couch. One of the forum members built both fireplaces and they are beautiful.

The back of the house is also well done. I know if I were going to cook for a living that I would want to cook there!

This project was a labor of love and it shows.

it sounds like it will hold fewer people as the original also had the attached building. If so it could get more crowded

Their web sites "contact" page has a .PDF of their employment application.

Scroll to the bottom of the page. I'm not sure how you submit the application though once you fill it out. I guess you print it out and bring it in?

It is my understanding that they intend to "soft" open May 16 or thereabouts, work kinks out and be fully in the swing of things for June.

Default Pre-Opening Dinner Party

Here's a comment from a friend who attended:

"...an amazing night at The New Woodshed and I can't tell you how great it was, to not only see what they've done, what they preserved and the new additions they've added. The food was great, staff/management incredible and so great to gather again with friends at The Shed."

It is Mr. Haynes and he and Steve have done a wonderful job at developing a new "old" Woodshed venue. From construction to dining, it's a class act.

Default Can't wait for the New Woodshed to open

We've watched the New Woodshed rebuild. From the exterior, the place is beautiful! I've heard so many rumors about who owns it, who rebuilt it, who will be running it, etc. but everyone always prefaced the comment with "this is what I've heard"

Now that the "soft" opening is just around the corner, does anyone have the actual facts about this rebuild? I'd love to know.

Good luck to the New Woodshed! I look forward to having another quality restaurant in our town!
