Default Green Peak expansion, Waterville Valley: Saturday, Oct 8

Correction: A 480-v electric line capable to power fan turbine snow making machines is happening, so the new Green Peak should have some snow making this winter.

oops....just lost that big post.....my bad! ...... oh well ... too bad?

Default Mittersill racing expansion

I believe the Taft racing trail is now fitted with a lift for this season. Taft is noted to be one of the best racing trail in the East.

Gunstock had one of the best racing trail. 'Fletcher Hale' was abandoned by Gunstock shortly after the single chair was removed. The Gilford racing school use to maintain the trail for a few years after that. Now it is heavily grown in.

....and, his name will be Chris Sununu! Am wondering if Chris will be there to make the hike up the newly created ski slopes on Saturday at 3 o'clock ...... seems like it is more than likely YES .... considering all the time and effort he has put into making the Green Peak expansion happen?

According to Wikipedia, Chris Sununu made a 5-month through hike of the Appalachian Trail in 1998 which is approximately 2100-miles long, so's he could probably navigate these new ski slopes pretty good, even all alone and in the dark. Gotta give him that if he can do the whole A.T.

Wonder what he used for a trail name?

Default .....deep snow, big time winter ahead...hooyah!!!

Chris Sununu and his WV-team deserve a whole lot of credit for moving up the hill with a big ski trail expansion like this Green Peak expansion, especially considering last years very poor season with warm temps, lots of rain, and little snow. Ten years from now, that low snow winter of 2015-16 will just be a forgotten year as the winter snow keeps piling up, year after year, and getting deeper! My crystal ball knows all!

.
You have that slightly wrong. Taft Slope(Mittersill) is different from Taft on Cannon. The t-bar is installed and another new snowmaking line has been run up the other side of this huge(width) training slope. The racing trail you refer to is Barons Run which has been certified to USSA standards for holding FIS level GS races. The first illustration shows Taft slope on the right in yellow and Barons on the left in white. The new lift is actually complete as this pic is a few months old.
