Default Snake eyes down

I just looked and snake eyes isn't updating, has anyone heard if that is the camera itself or if rattlesnake is without power? Not that it matters until the ice freezes but just curious.

Thanks

Default DSL issue

Snake Eyes now runs over DSL. I think they had an outage which knocks out the phone and the internet. Fairpoint said they would be out there today to fix the phone... (can you imagine them going out on a boat today!!)

Friends are planning on a Monday trip and may be able to reboot the equipment. I probably need some device that will turn off the router and camera and turn them back on each night. Recommendations are welcome.

If my friends cannot make it I will be looking for a ride next weekend. I have to catch it before we skim over or it will be a while.

I've used a regular appliance timer. You can go electronic, but they usually have a keep alive battery in case the power goes out. Might not work out well for an extended outage like you can have on the island, so go with the mechanical one. I've had them work for years and years in an unheated building.

I am not sure I know what that is. Could you point me in the right direction?

Hi IG -

I had the same problem with the PI router/cams on DSL... the router would get in a state where the DSL line was up, but it wasn't sending image across, and I couldn't remote into it to reset it...

So did as WiFi suggested and got a small timer that you would use for a single light in a house, installed that on the power strip, and haven't had a problem since (well except that my webcam is still on the fritz)... I got the timer for $8 at Home Depot, it has a battery backup installed and has been working for over 3 years now.

I've still got the 12' Alumacraft in the water, but not sure that it would be the boat we'd want to take out to the Rattler, unless the lake is like glass...

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, bring on the ice!! -PIG

Default Snake Eyes is up!

Fairpoint must have restored DSL... Or the power was out.. I know the power facing north was on yesterday as someone was on the island.

Fairpoint said they would go outbthete today, then left a message that itbwould be tomorrow. I have trouble believing they would go out in tha boat!

A few minutes ago we discovered new images. Woo Hoo!

Default Woo hoo!!!!!!

Thought I was going to have to cut the shrinkwrap off the Mariah, and fire it up to get you out to the island. or maybe that was a dream...or a nightmare I had. Happy new year IG.

Default Probably a nightmare!

Thanks for the kind thoughts... And PIG as well.

Soon there will be ice and hopefully snow... I am so glad the cam is back to watch it happen. Last year ... We lost the cam for a big part of the winter. It used a mobile broadband connection. The power cable died and we could not see ice-out. That was very frustrating.

I will put a power switch this spring to alleviate the hanging issues that could happen. This time it had to be the DSL was out and Fairpoint somehow fixed it from the mainland.

Phew!

Glad to see it back as well. As others have stated, I use a mechanical light timer to reboot my modem and camera every night at 4AM. Works like a champ.
