Default Bonnie

Our hearts are broken today as we had to put our beautiful Bonnie Girl to sleep this morning. We left the island very early this morning when we knew it was time. I had posted pics of her previously on page 2 (#159).

She was a smart, calm, loving, happy, amazing dog and such an important part of our family for 14 years. She loved walking the trail around Sleepers Island.

She forever changed our lives for the better. We loved her dearly and we're so lucky that she was ours.

She'll be in our hearts forever.......................Thank You Bonnie

These are certainly the times where the saying "doing the right thing isn't easy" rings true. It looks like Bonnie had the ideal dogs life, kudos to you and your family for giving her that.

As our first family dog she was with us for over 5000 days and she left behind a trail of joyful happy memories as I'm sure most pets do. If you have a dog then you know the greeting they give you when you return home from a 5 minute run to the store to go buy a gallon of milk. It's the same as the greeting you get when you've been gone for a week on vacation. The way they know when you don't feel well or something's wrong. How they look at you and you know exactly what they want. How you talk to them and they know exactly what your saying. The way she would poke her head through under my arm while I'm eating dinner on the couch. The way she would stand on my wife,s chest in the morning and lick her face to wake her up. The way all 5 of us had a different ritual for greeting her and her us, when we came home from work or school. It's a daily dose of happy.

Do we miss her?.......something awful.
Does it hurt?.........Yup.
Would we do it again?..........Where do we sign!

Dippasan - first off sorry to hear about your loss. We had to put down my best buddy last year and it truly sucks for that well, what can I say? We swore (my wife specially) we were done with dogs so we didn't go through that again. Well my latest friend turns one in just a few days and I can't imagine doing without him. It's always hard but there is not enough true "dog lovers" out there for all the animals looking for a home either adoptions or pups.................Go for it.

I'm so sorry. She looks like a sweet girl.

We lost a young dog unexpectedly a little over 3 years ago. I said never again. 4 months later I volunteered to be a weekend foster for a goofy, untrained, wrecking ball of a Great Dane mix puppy. Long story short, that weekend foster has been with us for nearly 3 years and is snoring away on my love seat (aka "his" couch) right now.

I hope your happy memories help heal your heart. And maybe there is another little soul out there waiting for your family's love.
