Default My Trousers are at the Cleaners

My dry cleaning clothes are at the cleaners in Meredith.
I went today to pick up and the cleaners is gone/closed.
Now what?

Where did my trousers go?

Who are the cleaners? Asking only because they may have additional locations. How long ago did you drop them off? Have you called a phone number for them?

I've lost my pants before but never at a dry cleaners. Pretty sure it was motorcycle weekend 20 years ago.

Now, this reminds me of a son cleaning out his dad's house after dad's passing. In a desk drawer, he found a claim ticket from the local cobbler, dated 20 years earlier. He took the ticket to the shop, and gave it to the old cobbler behind the counter. He looked at the ticket and said "Ah yes, black wing - tipped man's shoes, heels and half soles. Be ready next Tuesday."

Reminds me of a time, about 20 years ago, that I brought a pair of shoes to a local cobbler for new soles. The claim check had a disclaimer for the standard stuff, not responsible for merchandise left over 30 days, etc. but also "not responsible for losses due to fire". I thought that was a strange disclaimer.

Sure enough, the building burned down the following week. Never got my shoes back.

Default Trouser, pants, slacks

More than 20 years ago, I joined the Navy. The Drill Instructor informed us of a lot of new terminology. First, he was a Gunnery Sergeant and Drill Instructor. There is no such thing as a Drill Sergeant. Second,
Men wear trousers. Pants were a lady's undergarment. Slacks were also worn by women, but most appropriately, they didn't have any.

Slack.

Took a long time to get there, huh?

As the whole thread seems to be a digression...

I remember my salmon colored polyester slacks too tight for pockets so I had to carry my wallet in my man-bag. Those were the days.

I am sorry the OP can't find his pants.

Over the years, certain Navy accession programs have used Marine Corps drill instructors. "More than 20 years ago," that would have been Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola. Today, it's Officer Candidate School in Newport, although I heard recently that the Navy is considering doing away with the drill instructors, which would be a shame.

Here's to SSGT Snow, USMC, and AOCS class 06-87.

Old Scottish song, with most of the Scottish dialect cleaned out. Every night I used to hang my trousers up on the back of the bedroom door. I remember the day my mind must have been away , I'll never hang them up anymore. For my wife she used to ramble through my pockets, when I was fast asleep beneath the quilt. In the morning when I woke , I was always Stony broke. And that's the reason now I wear a kilt.

I live here... I am always Upthesaukee.

I went in the Navy almost 60 years ago. This was essentially what we "Boots" were told. Men wore "Trousers", women wore "Panties". You can take it from there.

Back in those days, (1959) Navy bootcamp had Navy Senior Petty Officers doing the "drilling". Drilling was training the troops to March in unison on the drill field.

"Left-Right..Left-Right..Column Right..YO..etc." NEVER smile when your drill instructor gets in your face..really in your face....three inches..you can smell his breath. I think sometimes the DI would purposefully injest some nasty garlic..or something, just to make a point. Fond Memory's. NB

Just, please, no kicking Edgar Allan Poe!

And I, uh, had a pair of red corduroys my mother bought when I was a little kid. Wore them once. Got beat up twice. Three days later, one of the kids showed up at school with red corduroys.. I guess my mother had a talk with his mother...A classic punishment.
