Default Bob House

Alton Bay has its first bobhouse just off the boat launch area and Shibley's. Rumor has it the Marine Patrol was there to make sure the owner had sufficient PFD's for all occupants, a warning device, and a paddle.

Oh well, someone has to be first!

Default And pictures

Here's two pictures, one from Harmony Park near the end of the bay looking out towards the bandstand, and one from the Community Center looking out past the Mt. Washington dock. About a half dozen or so ice fishers out there. One guy off Harmony Park said the ice was about 5 inches thick there. Just be safe and don't get a big group standing together.

Default Brave soul!

Is the Bob house equipped with a periscope? How thick is the ice on that part of the bay?

Given the temps last night and today, I hope those bob houses will "bob" and float on water!

the travel channel just showed about a ten minute piece on the Bob houses in Meredith. Must be from last year. Some really great houses some with porches. Also good shots of Meredith bay

Thumbs up Travel Channel's - Houses On Ice

If you can, catch Dreaming Big – Houses On Ice.
The whole show was very good and it was neat to see the spot on Meredith. (It is too bad that they didn’t do the filming during the Rotary’s Fishing Derby though.)
There really are some very creative, colorful people that have built amazing houses all over the country. Many of them have all the comforts of home. Maybe I will have to venture out on the ice to check some our local bob houses out.
Many of the houses on the show had rest rooms or sort. Are they self-contained or are they dumping into the lake?
Are there rules and regulations for this?

A little more info on the show, and you can set up a reminder email for Sunday morning...

'Can't answer that last question, but have you checked out this motorized one from this morning's Citizen?

Default Houses on Ice

We really enjoyed the program. Never knew so much thought went into building these houses. Thought they were just shacks that held a chairl and you drilled a hole in the ice to fish - wow bathrooms, satellite tv, stoves. This is big business.

Default Fish Gill Shots

It was a most enjoyable program. I got a big kick out of the folks drinking shots out of the fishes' mouth that had been poured in through the gills! Also, the guys who had the pizza delivered....which begs a question for Pepper.....Does Waldo's deliver to bobhouses?

Default Once was enough!

McDude - once - and ONLY ONCE! Several years ago. Long story, but suffice it to say we won't do that again.

Now I'm intrigued If you agree, perhaps this would be an interesting piece to add to the "lake lore", akin to Sally delivering her goods. Embellishment is favored, this isn't a newspaper

Gee I saw Pepper today and should have asked her about the Bob House delivery. But, my mind was on the wonderful Hot Buttered Lobster roll I had!
