Default Coast guard boats.

I was driving into downtown Wolfeboro this morning and saw three Coast Guard RIB boats being trailered south on Route 28. It was impressive to see. I guess they're finished on Winni for now.

Saw the same convoy heading north last week and it is quite impressive. What I don't understand is that there were 3 boats in the convoy but only 1 in the water near Mitt's place???

What I see in the photo are six, large, silver colored Honda outboards so apparently the U.S Coast Guard has chose to go Honda?

Probably, they just want a motor that works good........dat's all folks....just an engine dat works good......good promo photo for Honda for sure .....

Now, the NH Marine Patrol all uses Mercury or Evinrude, but stays away from Honda......duh..... ?

You guys need to get out more, like on Boston Harbor! You'll see plenty of Coast Guard boats, as well as Boston Police, MA State Police, MA Environmental Police, well you get the idea.

Those aluminum boats are all rigged with Honda 225s nationwide, they are all part of a Homeland Security initiative. Other craft are sourced with Evinrude or Mercury, it all depends on the contract.

Default Buy American with taxpayer money please

It would be nice to see Mercs or Evinrudes on the RIBs since our money paid for them. Given who was being protected Evinrude would have been more appropriate. Canadian company Bombardier bought Evinrude (which are still made in Wisconsin) and later a group of investors bought Bombardier. Bain Capital has the largest ownership share at 50%. We'll see those RIBs remotored with Evinrudes next summer.

You got that right! Had several Honda motorcycles, my last one had 40,000 miles on it when I sold it, rode that thing hard, never once failed me...ever! Best bike I owned.
As far as Bombardier, they have their fingers in everything including regional jets along with all the BRP toys, quite a company!

Could not agree with you more on that. Why should so much of our tax dollars go to Honda? Honda is hardly "perfection" like someone has posted.

Thats like the Olympic uniforms being made in China. Its not taxpayer funded but it is a thing of pride.

So if Hondas are less expensive over their lives than Merc or Evinrude thats nice but thats even more jobs that have been eliminated. With all the other government subsidies being passed out why not outboards?

As for those CG Defender Response Boat -Small boats the company that made them (SAFE) chose Honda for cost of ownership. They had longer warranties and it sounded like Honda threw in some extras to sweeten their bid. They're being replaced by Metal Shark who also selected Honda for their outboards. They're not Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats but rather aluminum. The fender around the hull makes it look like a RHIB. Google and Wikipedia make me smarter.
