D-Day - June 6, 1944
Today marks the 77th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by the greatest generation. We must NEVER forget what this day in history means as it changed the world. As people go about their Sunday, please remember the sacrifices of so many so that we may enjoy the freedom we have today. May all who paid the ultimate price that day rest in eternal peace.

So many brave, frightened men. So many examples of courage, perserverence, self-sacrifice and honor. So many unknown acts of heroism. And above it all, the power of the mighty hand of God.

As stated in a previous post.
Have been to Normandy France on a June 6. Visited all beaches and Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Red Buttons (John Steele) is still hanging from church. The French in this area at this time do love Americans. Had two French locals come up and thank us. They heard us speaking "American". The Churchill Hotel in Bayeux was 100% booked. Lot's of reenactors and ceremonies. And the cemetery - as seen in Saving Private Ryan - is breathtaking. Way too many stones had the name Unknown. Hope the future generations keep these sacrifices in the forefront. |

I have never been to Omaha Beach, but my dad was a Navy Corpsman and landed on Omaha as part of the second wave to help casualties. The horrors of what he saw and had to deal with to help save the brave haunted him afterwards. Luckily, he made it back or I would not be here !
