Default I almost hit an owl this morning...

Driving up the hill coming out of Melvin Village this morning on RT 109, A big, and I mean BIG owl flew right in front of me almost hitting the windshield. Right to left flight pattern.
I have been living up here for about 5 years now and had yet to see an Owl in the wild. (Just at Squam Lakes Rehab) Wow that thing was bigger than I thought they were. Don't know what kind it was but it was Brown, and did I mention it was BIG! And to boot both my passenger side windows were wide open in the truck. What if it had flown into the cab. Yikes.
Glad I did not kill it though.

It was really BIG!

How cool! I bet it was a "great horned owl".

Default Guardian of Ga'Hoole

Maybe it wasn't just any ol' owl... maybe it was a legendary owl...

Default Barred Owl

It may have been a Barred Owl. We have a couple of them in the back of twenty mile bay. We heard their mating calls last weekend at2:00AM. Very distinctive calls
