Default New BBQ at the Winni Pier!

OPENING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!
Hi everyone! We are the new guys on the pier this year Angry Hog Barbecue Company ! Just wanted to give you all a little info on us. We've been retailing our specialty brand of sauces and rubs for over 8 years in the southern NH area. Long time boaters on winnipesaukee, and VERY excited to be a part of the Laconia community. We market ourselves as New England style barbecue, a clean, flavorful slow smoked bbq with our local sourced products like Vermont maple, local grown hot peppers and apples too.
So what's changed at the weirs? SEATING! We built 2 bartop height tables, with seating for 12+ people, in the shade, or under shelter from those rainy days at the pier. We offer a variety of sauces too, which are also available for purchase. We are really into the BBQ experience, and I sincerely hope we captured that "Memphis bbq shack, with smoky blues music " atmosphere! We deliver to the pier at east coast flightcraft, and offer bulk bbq catering too. We're looking forward to meeting you! Check us out on facebook!

I welcome you to The Forum and wish you great success. Delivery to the dock is a great service. You have a reputation for producing a great product at a fair price. I look forward to the experience.

What are your hours?

Welcome to Laconia! I have a feeling there’s going to be lots of sticky fingers on nice clean boats this summer!

I've had Joe's BBQ, it's good! Your brisket is always tender, and I have to say that your Angry Hog spin on the Cuban may be a new favorite for me.

We're looking forward to stopping in and enjoying some BBQ from the boat!

I hope there will be some Angry Hog Hellfire available this Saturday, as you know Barb likes things with a good kick to them!

Congratulations and best of luck in your new home on the Weirs Pier!

We will definitely be checking you out this summer. Looking forward to the delivery option to the pier!

One part of your post above has always struck me as odd though....

I get that it is in fact sourced from New England, but.... NH produces maple too and I feel much better when I can ALSO support producers of such product.

Regardless, I will most definitely be a customer this summer.

I agree with Outdorsman. You can't be local AND and use Vermont Maple. Hope you'll reconsider that part of the menu.

Default semantics

Without getting lost in the details, I wish OP success.

To dwell in the details, a common definition for locavores is a 100 mile radius to be considered 'local.' As the Vermont border is less than 40 miles from Weirs (and some of New York is even within that 100 mile distance), it can easily be argued that this one ingredient is "local."
The 110th U.S. Congress defined local food products as (paraphrased) 1. transported less than 400mi. from origin OR 2. within the State.

Default Vermont maple

Oh no, another NH maple tree moved across the Connecticut river. Since when has Vermont maple syrup been local? To me local would be Sunnyside Maple Inc. In Canterbury.
Should have read the entire thread before spouting off. But I still remain loyal to Sunnyside.

Do the pigs have to come from NH as well, for his product to be classified as local?

I don’t care where any of it’s from; if it’s good, I’m chowin’.

It is not a big deal to me personally, BUT when you tout "local" in advertising, you do it for a reason, to get the locals to support your company.

you should be sourcing locally when available. Where the line is drawn, I suppose, is irrelevant. To each their own.

Default We went Friday

The pulled pork was great, but the brisket was outstanding. No sauce needed, the bark was very flavorful, the fat was fully broken down but the meat was moist.

While I didn’t use much sauce on either - the habanero and the first on the list, the brown sugar based one, were both very well received. Will be taking some of both home.

We will be eating there a lot this summer

My daughter was there today with friends and raved about the bbq. We're looking forward to bringing the whole family for a taste.

Excellent...we had some sort of "bombs" and they were delicious along with the ribs. Good luck on the Pier. The pier is starting to look good and needed a makeover since 1985

I was at the pier last Thursday and took a few pictures of their new shop. They really did a nice job and even fit in seating for 12:

Default Tried The Hog today...

They don't seem to have a web site other than through Facebook and I couldn't find their menu online.

So, I went there by boat and got the brisket dinner with beans, cole slaw, potato salad and corn bread for $20 (plus tip).

Everything was absolutely amazing! EVERYTHING! I've never had a brisket that good, and, if you asked for the side dishes to be better? I have no idea what would change to make that happen...Outstanding!

Don't know what happened to the "smoke machine" they had on the roof in May.

I went there over the holiday and had the brisket and the ribs. Both excellent very different from the Traveling Texas BBQ which was there last year which I also liked a lot. Bring difference in ribs are Texas was a dry rub and Angry has a small amount of BBQ sauce on the when served.
