Missing red marker
There has always been a red marker across from Pig Island as you head down to Fay’s. Is that Smith Cove? It was there last Saturday and gone on Sunday.

Black to Red
The red top buoy off of Pig Island used to be a black top buoy years ago. It denotes a very large rock several feet below the surface. Deep keel sailboats may hit it in low water conditions. I presume the color was changed to move boat traffic away from Pig Island, and the revised travel lane aligns better with the solid red and black spar buoys at the east entrance to Smith Cove.
