I just received a PM from Subaruliving, in which he wants to know “Why are you like that? You are a disgrace to the forum.”
I can take criticism, but why do we need this in a P M? I can’t for the life of me remember what I could have said that was so insulting. I was going to forego resolutions this year, but obviously I need to change! 🤨

He is a troubled (and cowardly) person, pay him no mind. I'd hoped the Webmaster had removed him.

Thanks for your contributions to the forum.

Sue, if you sell have the message in your inbox, go to it, open it, and look up at the upper right corner of the message area. You should see a red triangle, reminds me of a dancer sign. Click on it and you can report it to the webmaster.

Thanks, Dave....it’s no big deal really...this person just needed to be exposed, which is why I did it. Private messages should be used constructively, never to intimidate...this was creepy and cowardly.

Unbelieveable. Your posts are always positive, cheerful and uplifting.
Probably just a miserable, unhappy person wanting to spread more of the same.

I think most users of the site, and especially the forum, have no idea how much time the Webmaster spends every day working on this website. There is a lot of behind the scene "guidance" to keep this site positive and informative. We know what we see, there is a lot we don't see.

We all owe him a big "Thank You" for maintaining Winnipesaukee.com as a place we can go for information, referrals, and just general lake knowledge. If it is something about the greater Lake Winnipesaukee area worth knowing you can usually find it here.

Thank you Don!

Didn’t something very similar to this happen before? I recall there were some private messages sent just to some of the girls on the forum. I think the messages were nasty like this as well. Anyone remember?

Over the years, we have picked the brains of forum members on many subjects when we needed guidance on various problems, and the suggestions have been most helpful. It’s great to be able to tap into the experiences/mistakes others have made in order to make sensible decisions. There’s a lot of good common sense out there, and it’s appreciated.

Once I realized how clever a screen name Sue Doe-Nym is (it only took me over 10 years), I do not assume it is a she.

I was one of the lucky ones that received a pm in the spring. I did notice that subaruliving’s posts in the ice in thread have been removed.

Ha! Sue Doe-Nym is a she, but credit goes to our daughter for the name. Her pilfering mother stole her identity when she moved from the lakes region.

I really don't believe it is important if she is a he, or if he is a she.

What is important is respect and courtesy, and that should be extended to everyone participating on these threads (and everywhere else for that matter).

No one should be harassed.

Indeed I am. I think initially, it was thought the culprit in the spring was only targeting women with nasty pm’s, but I think at least one man also received some.

Default Subaru

I know that we can all have our opinions on this and that and get along , I do and feel I’m respectful and want others to respect me which I feel happens . But on this topic the screen name may provide me with a hint. Every time I’m on the highway Speed limit 60 and there’s a line of cars going 45 or 50 inevitably at the front is a Subaru that’s my two cents .best wishes to everyone.

Your post reminds of a funny incident decades ago, when we travelled from the lake back home in PA. I was driving our Subaru on 84 in CT, and received a huge speeding ticket. Believe me when I say that that car could barely get out of its own way, so I wrote a little note, along with my check for the fine, stating that I couldn’t have been going that fast because the car couldn’t. They cashed my check, but I felt somewhat better having had my say.

Times change. Before imports were prevalent, that Subaru at the head of the line was a Buick. Then it was a mini-van with a four cylinder engine. Who remembers when some states put troopers out front to keep the double-nickel enforced?

My h reminded me that Subaru or Buick, whichever one was at the front of the pack holding up traffic, it probably had a Florida tag!

And I used to have a wallet card listing all the counties in FL so, with thje firsdt tywo digits on the plate, you knew what county they were from. St John's County (St. Augustine, Hastings) was 20. This was a tough game for kids to play since oncoming cars did not have a front plate.

First off, I drive a Subaru and love it. That said, you are right. I drive route 9 to get to the lake. Inevitably there is a big line of traffic once I get passed the last passing lane. Once i get on 89 I can see the culprit. It always seems to be a Subaru Forester!

Both my wife and daughter are Subaru devotees. When my wife decided to buy her 2015 Outback, she asked me for advice. I told her I trusted her judgement - just go shop around and buy it. Well, she bought a four cylinder and now every time I ride in that car I torment myself because I failed to tell her to at least get a six (I just hate to ride in a car that struggles). Combine the fact that it really needs to work going up hills and that my wife is a slow (she prefers 'cautious') driver leaves me little doubt that she's likely leading some of those long lines. I still do love her however :-) Overall it's been a reliable vehicle though I feel Subaru has had a bit more than their fair share of recalls; more an inconvenience than anything else.

It's interesting to note that based on at least one online source (iseecars.com), Subaru lists five New England states in their top 10 for sales (based on percentage of overall auto sales in those states). The other five are from the Northwest. In this order starting with #1: Vermont (11.3%), Maine (6.5%), New Hampshire (5.8%), Connecticut (4.4%), Colorado, Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Washington, Massachusetts (3.6%). Consumer Reports also rates them as one of their top recommended brands.

I remember an earlier incident (a few months or a year ago?). This is not the first time some sniveling excuse for a man harassed women in PMs, even as there where men available who would would seem to be more logical targets.

Sue, very sorry you were the recipient of this garbage. I hope you won't let it bother you

Default No worries

Thank you, Flying.....it was more puzzling than worrisome, and I feel a bit foolish for bringing it up because it wasn’t a big deal. However, given that there’s so much divisiveness in our country right now, this forum is one place where we can share ideas and enjoy each other....sort of a “safe place”, if that doesn’t sound too corny. The forum members are always willing to help with solutions and suggestions. So....maybe it’s best to expose those who bully others via PM ...by posting it on the forum. That should put an end to it. And P.S.....thank you to the webmaster for keeping this forum going!

I am going to guess that the all-wheel drive is a big selling point, all those states are ones that get good snowfall amounts. I know it was one of the reasons we got a Forester for my wife... Plus they seem to keep their re-sale value better then most other brands (and BOY are some people Subaru loyalists!)

It always seemed to me that it would invariably be a cream colored Dodge Dart with the driver wearing a beret that would be the pokey driver at the front of the line. As a 'proud' Prius owner I remain mindful of that.

Default Proud Prius owner

I think this is in Washington DC, posted by a proud Prius owner after an unusual snowfall.

Default Who was that masked lady?

Ok, seeing this thread is completely off the rails, and as a lot of old-timers are reading/watching... Let me further derail.

Could the nice lady my wife and I met on the Dive this past fall drop me a PM?

I forgot her handle/name but I remember you/she organized a lot of the local craft fairs and was a long time member here.
