November, 2007

The Officers and Directors of the Moultonboro Snowmobile Club wish to extend to all a Happy Thanksgiving

The October Pizza Party was well received. We had thirty two members in attendance at the Balmoral Club House. There was more than enough Pizza and Salad for all those attending. The deserts were very tasty. We had another successful raffle for both “Trails” and Easter Seals.

The December Christmas Party
December 1st at the Balmoral Club House. It will be a Buffet Dinner catered by Harts Turkey Farm (the same buffet menu that would be served at their restaurant). Roast Turkey, Roast Beef and all the fixings and Black Forrest Cake for dessert. Please RSVP by November 29th at the latest. The cost for the dinner will be $13.50 per person for adults and $7.00 for children. Make checks payable to Moultonboro Snowmobile Club. Arrival for social time is 6:30P.M. Dinner will be served at 7:00P.M.
Call Cheryl Higgins at 253-4372 or e-mail at winnfabric@adelphia.net to make your reservations.
As before, we will need help with both setting up the tables and cleaning up afterwards. Help will be graciously accepted.
There will be a raffle for the Trail Fund and/or Easter Seals. Anyone can bring an item to raffle and designate which fund will receive the donation. We will also have a Yankee Swap for those who want to participate.
Don't forget! Call or e-mail to make your reservation by Nov 29th.
Anyone not signing up before hand may have to wait until all those with reservations have been served before entering the buffet line.

Our next dinner Meeting:
The January meeting will be a Pot Luck Super at the Balmoral Club House. The normal starting times of 6:30 pm for appetizers and 7:00 pm for the start of the main course will apply. Cheryl will be looking for people to volunteer to bring certain things from Soups, Main Dishes and Desert. As we get closer to the date we will formalize things more specifically. With a little bit of luck we may be able to “Ride” to this Dinner.

Groomer Safety Course:
This past Saturday the Groveton Trail Blazes with help from the Bureau of Trails held a Groomer Safety Course at their Club House. There were over 50 people in attendance. The course ran from 9:00 am till 1:00 that afternoon. Joe Quaresima and I attended the course. It covered many topics that dealt with not only Groomer safety but how the “Drag” actually processes the snow and turns it in to what we enjoy as a well groomed trail. We both came away with a better understanding of just what Grooming is all about. Big thanks to the Groveton Trailblazers for putting on the class. BRING ON THE SNOW!!!!

Looking for volunteers:
The Club is looking to fill two critical positions at this time. The first is the vacant position of Club Secretary. We are looking for someone that can attend our monthly Director Meetings that amongst other duties can take and distribute the minutes of each meeting. This Secretary is a voting Officer of the Club.

The second position is that of Safety Adviser. We are looking for someone that can organize a Safety Awareness Program that will cover many aspects of the activities the Club may undertake, be it trail rides, Grooming, proper use of power tools and other Club Equipment.

Fall Trail Work: Anyone wanting to help only needs to show up at the Club Garage on Saturdays at 8:30 am. Dress appropriately for the conditions and bring a pair of work gloves and Safety Glasses or Goggles. Check the website for up-to-date information www.moultonborosmc.com . There is still a lot of work, trails need to walked, checked for blow downs, brush needs to be cleared, fencing and signage put up. If you have the time please come and help us get these tasks done while the weather is still favorable.

This may sound strange but it may be time to start getting in “SHAPE” for the rapidly approaching season. A little upper body conditioning, arms, shoulders, wrists and the “Throttle Thumb and do not forget those aching thighs and Knees. You Know that First Ride of the season that ended 125 miles later. Every one at work wonders why you have not gotten out from behind desk all week?

See you on the Trails, George Higgins
