That should pack them in just to find out who the heck these acts are. Other than Ted Nugent, they must all be Catskill rejects.

Default Let's wait and see!

Why don't we wait just a bit and see what other kind of music and entertainment they're bringing in. Something has to be done to begin to right the ship and bring bike week back. Maybe what these folks are doing can put a little life back into the event.

I wonder how Laconiafest will work with being right next to the already deafening bands at the Roadhouse? I can hear the Roadhouse clearly at my homes distance of a half mile. I would think two stages so close together would ruin the experience for both.

Default Making Bike Week Great again!

Looks like Laconia Fest is going to be legit.... They have a bunch of big names and great bands. And of course the previously mentioned Steven Tyler singing with his new country band. I think he will do 1-2 Aerosmith songs.

The lot next to Cumby's in the Weirs has been cleared almost completely of trees. My guess is they are gearing up for the $10 fee for parking cars for Laconia Fest. There is rumor floating around of a Bentley's type establishment to be built there at some point...

I am actually surprised at some of the bands that are on that schedule.

I expected one or two headliners. That should draw pretty well.

Meadowbrook has four concerts during bike week.

Good to see there is competition.

Steven Tyler does nothing for me to see live now.. A great in his day but come on between him, Ted nugent and Brett Michaels, talk about washed up.

The way I look at this is there are people trying to make the experience better and trying to improve Bike Week. I do not know many of the bands, but I respect the fact that these folks are trying to help.

I wish them well.

If the price is right, listening to music is a fine evening activity. If they're charging big money, AND adding parking fees, I'd stay away and seek out a small pub with live local bands.

What do you think your going to get at this type of event? Any big headliner today would never play a small venue like this. They would be in stadiums or even little old Meadowbrook which is where a lot of these "washed up" artists go when they can't fill big venues anymore. I think they have put together a pretty decent lineup for its first go.

This is GREAT for Bike Week!

The bands that are playing Laconia Fest play venues like the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. 2000 - 3000 capacity. They are hardly washed up artists, and I think there will be a good turnout, especially if the weather is good. There are a few names to get the younger crowd in too... Buckcherry, Fuel, etc.

Meadowbrook kicks the week off with Skynyrd & Frampton...

The Roadhouse has Josh Logan and a few other notable bands...

No doubt the best musical line up Bike Week has seen in a decade!

Bring it!

Considering it's Laconia, I don't think or expect anything at all .

I don't think its a question of washed up or not, It's not an event for pop or hip hop. That's all there is now besides country. There are no "contemporary" rock bands really. The target market is rock fans, so you get who makes sense. I think they've done better than I expected.

For $45.00/PP for a ticket I would expect reasonably priced parking within a reasonable distance from the venue. As it stands now, the web site has "TBA" under the FAQ section for parking.

Time is running out to work out these details. Any local that would be willing to pay the price for any of these shows knows that they can not get in/out of this location with a car.

Leasing parking spaces in Lakeport/Meredith train station for ticket holders for an additional PP fee would be great. Just make sure the train has room to leave the weirs at a certain time. Ticket holders would have priority for the later time.

People are overly worried about nothing...

I would not worry about parking.... or traffic being worse than usual. The ticket is good for all day, (I believe its an electronic bracelet) and the music starts at 12pm. You can come & go as you please. This will not be like a show at the Garden or Meadowbrook where you have to show up by a certain time and have to stay for the whole show.

I suspect most people will arrive early, score a parking spot somewhere for $10-$20 bucks, take the train or the rumored shuttle buses (same lots as Pumpkin Fest) and go walk around until the band they want to see comes on the stage. Not to mention the majority of the people attending will be on motorcycles.... weather permitting! It is Laconia after all!

Traffic might be a little tight at the end of the night when everyone leaves.

I saw what was remaining of Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Broken Spoke about 10 years ago- and Blue Oyster Cult not too long after that. Enjoyed both shows. With all of the bitching about how Bike Week is dying and there needs to be something to be done about revenue to The Weirs- at least this is a step in the right direction. I'll be interested in seeing a show or two. If I don't like it, then I won't go back. It's that simple.

Of course there are.

Google "alternative rock."

In Portland, Oregon we have an FM station that plays nothing but alternativer rock.

It's out there, you just have to look, and listen.

Your reference to Ferguson is not even remotely accurate. Apples to Oranges.

I couldn't agree more. One of New England's most famous musicians is playing at Bike Week and we get a reference to Ferguson? I'm having trouble making the connection.
