Boat Registration

Rcvd boat registration last week, earliest yet. Again will take a trip up to Moultonborough to check out camp, pay for boat registration, house taxes and dump stickers.

What a shame you have to travel all that way to get all these annoying tasks done.

We make payment on the taxes before leaving for California. Boat registration for unknown reason never arrives in the mail.
Can't you pay by check in mail and get the dump sticker upon spring arrival.

I am a retired workaholic and continuing aquaholic.

I just mailed my boat registration in yesterday. Much easier than going to do it in person.

If you go to your town hall and have your bow number...NH XXXX XX, they can issue the registration without the papers from the state. Did it last year....easy.

Call first, not all towns do boat registrations.

I pay the boat registration at town hall so they get the agent fee. I never receive auto registration in the mail also and last year drove the car to California unregistered. Holy Mackerel. Really don't need any papers as they look you up in the computer and do all registrations. Although the car is due in October.

Believe the town gets more than just the five dollar agent fee, the town also splits 50/50 with the State of NH, the entire amount you pay, excluding the agent fee.

When you register and pay at a marina, the marina gets the five dollar agent fee, and do not know if the 50/50 town/state split is what happens?

...... money, money, money, money, money ..... it takes money to make a NH motorboat go ...... without no money....you get to go row a rowboat ....ain't no registration needed for a NH rowboat ....you get to row, row, row the boat basically for free, or something! Except a set of nice, new 84" wood oars go for about $75/pair at Parafunailia which has the biggest selection and best oar prices around....... plus the row row row exercise is kinda fun...... you can go row back and forth to a restaurant to go eat a big meal?

As you is rowing .....you get to think about all the money you didn't spend by having to pay to register a 32' boat with 1100-hp engines which would cost how much? I dunno......but it could be quite a tidy sum?

The total you pay consists of a registration fee and a tax. If you register through an agent (Marina, Town Clerk) that town gets the tax. The money mostly goes to the "Navigation Safety Fund" for Marine Patrol, not the state general fund There are also designations for lake protection e.g. milfoil control and some to Fish and Game for their Search and Rescue units. Love this one: because the NH constitution says the state cannot force towns to do anything unless the state funds the expense, there is $1.00 that goes to the Town Clerk/Tax Collector to cover the mandated activity. A tax to collect a tax. This used to be all printed on the back f the old style registration forms
