What's going on in Meredith?
Got to the intersection near the Lago and traffic was backed up all the way up the hill. sat for ten minutes in one spot. Turned around in the Hannaford's P-Lot and went up to 25B. No traffic there. School function maybe?

Accident
There was a serious accident on Rt 25, a rollover. According to scanner traffic, at one point the patient prior to extrication, stopped breathing. Helicopter was called in, and L. Z. set up at Interlakes. Hopefully, all will turn out well for the injured person(s).

This is on page 8 of today's LDS:
M’borough man flown to Boston after Rte. 25 rollover MEREDITH — A 64-year-old Moultonborough man was transported by DHART helicopter to Boston Medical Center on Tuesday evening for treatment of injuries suffered when his car left Rte. 25, hit a telephone poll and ended up resting on its roof on the highway. Robert Smith was said by police to have suffered “possible serious bodily injury” as a result of the 4:41 p.m. wreck. Police say Smith was traveling westbound when his Subaru Forester left the highway in the vicinity of Moulton’s Farm. There was no apparent reason for the accident. Wires attached to the pole that was struck came down across the roadway. Smith was extricated from his vehicle by the Meredith Fire Department and transported to nearby Inter-Lakes High School by Stewart’s Ambulance Service, where the helicopter was met. Rte. 25 was shutdown for about one hour because wires on the road. The accident is under investigation by Offi cer Phil McLaughlin. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to call Meredith Police. |

I was going other way or from Moultonborough towards Meredith. Police officer had blocked off Route 25 at Main Street - Opposite Congregational Church. All traffic was redirected going toward Meredith. Many going that way seemed baffled as to how to get there. Of couse up either hill would take them to Meredith the back way.
Sad to read though that someone will not be home for Christmas. |
