Default Slow performance?

Are others seeing the poor response time for reading threads that I am? After I click on a link, I go to another site to read something else, coming back later after the thread loads. Slow as molasses in January - but even if the servers are running on syrup, with the warm weather, shouldn't they be going faster?

Default Yup

Yes, painfully slow loading today.

I thought it was me and my system. Even blamed my college daughter home for vacation for using up too much of our bandwidth. I thought I noticed a little latency the last day (or so) but it seems to lag considerably more today. Very slow. dial-up modem would be faster.

Whatever it is, I'm sure the powers that be will take care of it. And thanks Don.

LG and BT, Thanks. At least I know now that "the trouble is not with my set..."

Thanks again and Happy New Year.

P.S. wouldn't the warmer syrup flow to more places and get sticky causing even more slow down of the moving parts?

The elastic bands need to be re-wound I believe.

Oh Thank you all!!! I thought I was going mad! Monday and Tuesday extremely slow performance but mostly only at Winni.com, once in a while, yahoo.com was slow. Everything else was fine.

Like you Skipper, my college son (leaves tomorrow and using my computer cause his is packed) got erroneously accused. And I agree about dial-up being faster.

I also ran through all the diags I could think of on my computer to no avail. This morning I had my cable company reset my connection at their end. I was rather emphatic about knowing what I wanted, I must call back and apologize later. Obviously, as I am adding to this thread, the reset didn't help either. I even tried lake.cc (the Carbon Copy alternate site which I guess re-routes back to winni.com but that didn't work either.

Now that I know it isn't me or mine that has the problem, I'll just keep waiting and hoping for a quick resolution.

Hope we all have a healthy New Year.

I'm working on it. The problem comes and goes so it is difficult to determine if it's a server or a data center problem. Thanks for your patience.

Default Thanks Don

Thanks Don - We all know you take good care of this baby. These posts are sort of like fact finding steps asking each other "hey did you ...?" I hope you don't take these posts as finger pointing.

btw, within 2 minutes of my post the speed increased back to normal. Whatever button you touched - lol

Thnx

Default Slow again

Don - your magic touch is needed again. The site started to get slow on Thursday and is taking at least 30 seconds per load this morning.

Default Intermittent?

Its weird....one minute it crawls and then the next its fine.

I don't envy Don on this one....these intermittents with no set patterns or symptoms are the toughest to troubleshoot!

I'm sure Don will fix it as soon as possible.

It's much worse than the other day....

Glad it's not just me as I would be at a complete loss to know what to do!

It does seem slower this time. I have tried to get into the site several times today and only succeeded this once.

Hmmmm. Curious. Being almost completely computer illiterate, I am in awe of you all who can fix this sort of thing.

This has been a tough one to identify. I thought I had it fixed on Tuesday when I did some database maintenance but the problem did come back last night. At times it works fine and at other times it slows down. My logs show no problems.

The other problem is I have a very demanding full-time job that makes it difficult to do much troubleshooting during the day. Fortunately the weekend is here and I'll have more time to try to figure this out (except of course from 8 to midnight on Saturday).

Thanks for your patience everyone. Hopefully I'll get this resolved soon.

I had the real slow response problem this morning. So I just closed out the site. Now I'm back on and it seems to be working wicked fast. Thanks Don for checking it out for us all.

Could the problem be Comcast?

The problem won't be fixed for good for a few more days. To fix the problem I have to relocate the sites to a different server. It's a tedious process with over 5 GB of files to transfer on this site alone. I've already closed PhotoPost and have begun the transfer of those files.

Things should be improving soon. Hang in there.
