Default probably a stupid question, but here goes...

Don or others?

what makes a forum thread "closed" - lack of postings? someone said something naughty? the poster that "opened" it decided to "close" it?

I saw the 60 Minutes interview with T. Boone Pickens last Sunday and was reminded of the discussion on Wind Power on this Forum last summer and was going to try to revive the discussion (the guy was pretty impressive with his thinking). But, when I went to post a reply, the thread was "closed"...

Not a big deal, but just made me wonder as I've seen some replies to threads that have been dormant for months if not years!

Thanks - charles (aka PIG)

I'm the only one that can close threads. It doesn't happen that often and there is no set rule to cover it. Here are a few reasons I can think of:

1. A thread gets hopelessly off track and has little or nothing to do with the original topic or the Lakes Region.

2. A thread turns into a bickering session between just a few members.

3. Someone posts to a thread that is years old. In that case I'll move the new post to a new thread and close the old one.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly why I closed the wind power thread. If you have new information please open a new thread. If you add to the existing thread your comment would be buried under 71 posts that are over 14 months old.

As always, your topic should be directly related to Lakes Region issues or activities.
