is the running of the crazy people over to the web-cam event still scheduled to take place? How about a secret showing of the all-powerful, yet still unused, forum bed racer?

Well, McD, the Forum's "Bed Racer" is pretty much in cold storage at this time. I don't even have all the racer's parts right now, as some other Forum members were helping "spruce them up", but when the race was cancelled all urgency to complete the racer's preparations evaporated.

I think at this point it might be best to hold the "unveiling" of the supercharged Forum racer until the actual race itself ... next February! (All the various pieces will be assembled then!! )

Waterbaby - thanks for fixing the count to indicate SteveA in the affirmative! I've been straight-out for a couple of days, and missed that post, so thanks for your administrative assistance!

LockesIslander - I'm heartbroken to hear that you won't be joining us this year, but thrilled to know that you'll be spending time with your buddies at the reunion!!!

McDude - I'm not sure how many tables Mac is bringing, but we'll be bringing one. Not sure how many we need, but an extra couldn't hurt! Also, are you attending solo? I just want to know if we should remove the "?" beside your name!

DRH - keep the super-racer in hiding! We don't want to give any competitors a chance to gaze in wonder!

We can bring 1, 2 or 3 so I'll plan on 2 for now and we'll take it from there. We're scratching our heads on a raffle item as well but I have an idea to run past "Mee".

RE: the Super-Bed - I agree. Them ABCCC boys are pretty crafty, wouldn't want to give away any of our secrets to them !

Default Another raffle item!

This just in! Island Girl will be bringing a truly unique offering for our FFIII raffle. We all know that she's a fabulous photographer, but did you know she does framing, too? Well, she does, and she'll be bringing a pair of 8x10 prints, in frames that she has hand painted. The photos are companion photos, one of which can be viewed below ...

One word ... WOW!

That photo by Island Girl is one of the best on photopost and has been used as my screensaver often! (good choice!) I will be attending solo so we can scratch the "?" .....and.....I was only kidding about the forum "bed racer"!!!!

....ah...finally thought of a raffle item that may be of interest. A book entitled "Remember When...A Collection of Old Photographs of Wolfeboro, NH - A Bicentennial Project of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce- Edited by Kathy O'Meara - Copyright 1976. My copy of this book has most of the pages pulled out of it so I could scan them for photopost. This copy, however, is in perfect condition. The binding isn't even broken. 196 pages with at least one photo (usually two!) per page. A real gem!

here are some links to a few of the photos contained within from photopost.

Well YEAH!!!!

Now, for the record, will you be attending solo, or will you be in the company of your beautiful, ever-smiling other-half???

EDIT: Or does your signature, which I just noticed, answer my question?

Default Update 9/10/06

I just added a friend to my guest number, he is a lurker to the forum
Also does the raffle item have to be associated with Winni? I have a lovely pedestal serving dish with matching plates still new in the box that I would love to donate to the raffle. Now if I can figure out what to bring for the munchies, any suggestions?

Default Put Me Down For "2"

Had the pleasure of spending some time at Waldo Peppers on Saturday and spoke to Pepper about the forum. I asked her what I should bring and her suggestion was paper goods... so please put me down for the paperplates - napkins - silverware I will watch for the final total of attendees...

PS - the BLT was great..

Default Bummer

Well I wish I could say I was comming to Forum Fest III but unfortunatly I am not going to make it. After over 3 months straight of going to the lake every weekend my mind and body are telling me that after next weeks trip to the lake for the Race in Loudon, that it is time for a Rest.....

Oh well what can you do...oh yes I know....think about and look forward to Forum Fest IV next year.....

Well even though I can't make I hope the rest of you have fun and good weather.......

Default weirs post office

Hi Pepper, I have been reading this forum for almost a year now and decided to join to let you know that the weirs post office now offers a key fob for $25.00, you can get into the post office 24/7 to get your mail. i had a problem getting to my mail so i inquired, and to my surprise they had this option. It works out well for me so I thought i would pass this on to you and anyone else that might want to get one.

Here's what folks wishing to "pre-buy" raffle tickets will need to do:

1.) Drop off your request along with a check payable to St. Baldricks's Foundation. This can be done any time Waldo's is open. I'll instruct my staff in the event I don't happen to be there.

2.) If unable to drop off your request in person, it can be mailed to Waldo Peppers at P.O. Box 5273, Weirs Beach, NH 03237. If requests are mailed I respectfully request that they be mailed no later than one week prior to FFIII, so that I have time to receive and record them! (Getting to our P.O. Box can be a real challenge, as the Weirs Beach Post Office has extremely short hours each day - most of which fall during my busiest parts of the day. That's why I'm asking for so much advance time. )

3.) Please be certain to provide the following information along with your request:

A.) Your forum Screen name
B.) E-mail address so that I may contact you with your ticket numbers, and advise you if you've won anything at the raffle.
C.) Information regarding how you wish to "claim" your prize (eg. shipping, direct pick-up, etc.)
D.) Correct shipping address in the event your prize needs to be shipped
E.) Telephone number in the event I am not able to contact you via email for any reason.

I'm trying to make sure I cover all possible bases here, but if anybody sees anything that I've missed, PLEASE post here with your insights!!!!!!!

Now, with all that said, there's one more important topic to address here: Items for raffle! If my reading of this thread is correct, so far we have two beautiful items to raffle - SteveA's map, and QuiltLady's quilt. Photos of both are embedded above for all to view (and boy-oh-boy are they NICE items).

So, who else wants to commit an item for raffle?

The list is growing and we're going to have such a great time!!!!!

Newbie - I can't wait to finally taste one of your recipies! MMMMmmmmmm. So very glad you two will be joining the fun this year!

Joann - glad to know you two will be coming also, and here's hoping you're feeling much better! Perhaps a BLT was the secret!

mrylmbt - thanks for the info about the P.O.! I'll have to look into that for sure!

And speaking of the P.O. - As of yesterday morning, we have no advance raffle ticket orders! Time's-a-wastin' folks!!!!!!! If you wish to place an order for tickets, PLEASE get your requests in the mail ASAP!

Also, I still have "?" next to Gilly20. I'm nearly 100% certain that is an oversight, but just looking for Gilly to post and confirm attendance ...

Default Winni.com hooded sweatshirt-for the raffle!

hello again,
I will be donating a brand new grey hooded sweatshirt from the Winni.com store size XL.
These are very comfy and will ward off the autumn chill.
I have enjoyed my own since I won it in the 2005 Ice Out Contest.

Default Check is in the Mail

Pepper,

My check for the Forum Feast raffle is in the mail to you. We wish we could be with you for this gathering but living in New York is too far to drive for a weekend. Hope you have good weather.

It was great to finally meet you while we were on vacation last month. I understand my mom, aunts and cousins came back to see you after we left and everyone loved the food and company. Thanks for everything. My nephew is looking forward to coming back next year and of course one of the first things he told my sister upon his return to Arizona was that someone thought he looked 25.

If you would like to keep some money out for shipping, because I'm planning to win the raffle, feel free to do so.

Mary

Mary - It was absolutely wonderful to meet you, and your terrific family! I truly look forward to seeing all of you again next year ... by then Stephen will surely look 30!

Now, a bit of information regarding the raffle! Each item being raffled will have a special container for tickets - thereby allowing folks to place their tickets on the items they wish to win. There's an effort underway to create a special place to view all the items in one place, so that folks here can click and view all the items. Bear with us.

So, please be certain to let me know exactly which items you want your tickets to be placed on, so that you have the best chance of winning the items you want. If necessary, send me an email once you've had a chance to view everything, and let me know that way.

Give a round of hugs to everyone for me, and send one off to Stephen too, wouldya?

Talking Secret Surprise Item

Should I fess up to my secret surprise item for the on-line bidders? Or should we keep it for the attendee's only?

I think it's only fair that we allow everyone who buys tickets to have an opportunity to know all the items up for raffle. Therefore, I am hereby divulging what my contribution is ... Two copies of the Destination Winnipesaukee DVD.

Talking I Crack Myself Up!

My surprise raffle item is a decorative bottle of genuine Lake Winnipesaukee water!
It will come complete with a certificate of authenticity.

I do have misgivings on how well this item would ship. The bottle has a glass stopper, which I plan to glue on and hopefully shrink-wrapping, but will it be shippable?

Wow, RG, would that mean it is the "Official Water of Forum Fest III" complete with sand from Weirs Beach? It could work like a snow globe: during the dead of winter, you could swirl it and think of a summer afternoon at the beach! Certainly a very unique item and sure to raise many $$$$$$ for a most worthy cause. It could become the first in a series and a real collectible! Excellent!

Is it water from the Rattle Snake Island area or will it be Weirs Beach water? If it is from Weirs put a drop on Clorox in please to kill the bacteria.

I wish I could be there!

Default raffle donations

I'm not sure if we'll be able to be up at the lake during the weekend of the forum fest but i will donate two items to the raffle. Such great causes the raffles have been for.

The first item I will put up is a softcover edition of Three Centuries on Winnipesaukee by Paul H. Blaisdell. Now there is a disclaimer on this book. I didn't do it but I picked this up at a yard sale a few years back. It is missing a photo on pages 55 and 69 and written information on the back sides of those photos pages 56 and 70. I do have the hard cover book and what I will do is scan the missing pages from that book and print them out. Thus you will have the missing pages in the softcover book, just not attached to the binding. Hope that's feasible for all.

My other item is a Pet disaster kit that I put together and sell in my free time. This will be for the basic kit. All you have to do is add bottled water and some pet food, a collar or harness and leash. It includes a backpack, pet brush, several sizes of plastic bags and ziplocks, manual canopener, flashlight, 5 in 1 whistle combo, 2 foldable pet food/water containers, pet neckerchief that can double for a bandage or collar, pen, pencil, perm marker, either a rope toy for dog or mouse for cat (winner will have to specify for which pet), notebook that contains liners to keep photos and paperwork for your pets and important telephone numbers, door decal, wallet cards and the booklet Saving the whole family disaster preparedness for pets put out by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Pepper, I can hold these items at home if I can't make it and I'll ship them out to the winners if that's okay. I know I need to send you a check asap for my raffle tix. Thanks for everyone's hard work on this. Fun time for all of us even if we can't make it up that weekend.

Lin - your raffle items sound great! Wow, there's a lot of stuff in that pet kit! Awesome idea for pet owners. Up here where we have frequent power outages, and "100-year-storms" like last October, you never know when you might have to evacuate your home in a hurry, and what a great idea to have all the important things your pet would need in a handy backpack ready to go!

Pineedles - old doesn't necessarily mean unattractive or uninteresting. I can think of LOTS of old things that are treasures to me ... like my husband for instance! Seriously though, I'll bet you'll find something really cool to raffle off.

Default Buy Raffle Tickets Now! (yes you!)

For the hundreds of you who will be unable to attend this year's ForumFest... please buy raffle tickets for the generous donations to this year's raffle. Click on the link
to see what has been donated... You can choose which items you would like to win. Directions of how to do this are at the end of this post.

This year's raffle will go into Pepper's jar for the benefit of St. Baldrick's.. in memory of her sister.

If I missed your donation, please post a note on this thread and make sure you include a picture.

Come on now.... let's finish of the jar $3k needed!!!!! You need to send in a day or two to get there in time.

From Pepper:

Thumbs up Raffle Site

Nice job on the getting the raffle items all in one spot IG! Thank you!

I think you forgot McDude’s "Remember When...A Collection of Old Photographs of Wolfeboro, NH - A Bicentennial Project of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce- Edited by Kathy O'Meara - Copyright 1976.

Also, are the framed prints being raffled by sets, two of yours and six of Sunset Bob’s? Perhaps the sunsets should go as pairs? And should they be dated and signed?

Is the Waldo Pepper certificates going together or singles? A person may want all their tickets in one cup only, increasing their odds on it.

A big thank you for all the donors of the raffle items!

I like how you think Quilt Lady! (And how you sew!)
Unfortunately we didn’t make it back to The Weirs to collect water and sand. I’m sorry.
Perhaps I could collect and put another together and auction it on E-bay? Would that be worthwhile?
(McDude, can you list it for me if we go that route? I don’t want people to know who I am on E-bay! )

This bottle will be water, sand and pebbles from The Broads side of Rattlesnake Island. Rest assured, if we do a bottle to raffle from Weirs Beach for Forumfest III, you bet we’ll kill the bacteria!

Sorry you cannot attend this gathering gtxrider. Maybe next year.

Default Answers to some of RG's questions ...

Just to clarify, per RG's questions:

1.) The Gift Certificates will be offered as two separate items, so there's more than one chance to win one.

2.) I believe it is SunsetBob's intention to have his photos raffled in pairs of two, so there would be three separate opportunities to win.

Also, there are two copies of the "Destination Winnipesaukee DVD, and they will be offered as individual items, so there will be two opportunities to win one of those, also.

And one more item of business - I have, thus far received two requests for "pre-buy" on the raffle tickets. Both requests were made in person. I will advise right away when I receive any requests sent by mail. Folks - if you wish to get a request in by mail, PLEASE do so no later than today!!!!! We're down to the wire here, and I really don't want anyone to miss out if they want tickets.

And finally, a HUGE thank you to IslandGirl for her fabulous job putting together all the items in one easy-to-view location! Awesome job!!!

Default And a raffle gift..

I am having this picture enlarged to nearly 11x17, and mounted on black foam board, which will give a frame effect to it.

I took the picture coming out of Sally's Gut, and the lighting was just great.

I was thinking separate so 6 people will get 1. In pairs will work too.Whatever anyone thinks best.3 pairs would have to be a sunset and a sailboat 3 times like they are displayed in the link.

Guess what? SteveA is already way ahead of you, Mee-n-mac! In the event of inclement weather, SteveA has arranged for us to have the use of the Pavillion at Lake Shore Park. The building is huge, with plenty of room and is truly a perfect place to hold FFIII in the event of foul weather.

I'm monitoring the forecasts, and have promised SteveA that if it looks like we might be in trouble we'll take him up on that offer.

Many thanks to the wonderful group at LSP for offering their facility in the event of foul weather!!!

As of this moment, here's what Accuweather.com is reporting for Sunday and Sunday night:
Sunday, Sep 24 Cloudy most of the time with a touch of rain; breezy. Winds from the S at 10 mph.Realfeel®: 61 °F High: 65 °FSunday Night, Sep 24 Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. Winds from the WNW at 7 mph.Realfeel®: 49 °F Low: 52 °F

Default Lake Shore Park Pavilion

Pepper:

Less than an hour ago I e-mailed SteveA asking him if he would look into getting the Pavilion as a contingency location. He was way ahead of us all. Kudos to you SteveA and members of the Lake Shore Park Association. Photo attached of the Pavilion at LSP.

Wow, I have been around the weirs since early sixty's, why can't I recognize that pavillion? where is it located? I'm probably going to feel pretty stupid when I find out. Also this is our first Fest, is it potluck and is there electric to plug in crockpot?

Thanks, Riverat

RiverRat - the Pavillion is in Gilford at Lake Shore Park, and is being offered up to us as an alternative to the Beach at the Weirs, in the event of foul weather.

This is ForumFest III. The first and second were both at Cate Park in Wolfeboro, so this is the first time it'll be held in the Weirs.

Lots of folks are already bringing food to the Fest, so I'm not sure we want to bring too much more, or a lot will end up going to waste. A member has also signed up to bring paper plates and napkins and such, so we probably won't need those either. So, I would suggest bringing just yourself and your party - come and enjoy yourself immensely!!!

EDIT: I just re-read your post and realized that you meant that this is YOUR first Fest. Please excuse my statement above regarding the history of FF's.

Thanks for the speedy reply Pepper, that explains why I can't picture it at the Weirs. Cannot wait to meet everyone, I have met you at your lovely establishment and the food was great and you were very charming. See you there.

Default LSP Pavillion

To All,

I have arranged to have the pavillion at LSP as a back-up for FF III in case of bad weather

I'll leave the decision for using it to the "organizers"

I think the best plan is for everyone is to check the FF III post on Saturday or Sunday morning to see if we will "shift" the event to LSP.

I do have to tell everyone that LSP is a private club... events are allowed, if a member requests it, and agrees to hold the LSP Club harmless for any damage that may happen..

LSP has very strict rules in place... and I want everyone to be sure to understand and respect them..

1) The speed limit in LSP is 10 MPH... not almost 10 MPH... 10 MPH!!
2) As the "Requesting Member" I have signed an agreement to be responsible
for the behaviour of "My Guests" ... including a Certification and
Indemnity Agreement which includes a provision that clearly states that if
alcohol is sold or consumed, I will be personally be responsible for any
damages.

Now the good stuff.... The Pavillion has a Giant TV... and a wireless high speed hook up. (Hot Spot) so we may be able to "broadcast" FF III live.. if someone can bring a laptop with a wireless card. (I don't have one)

Plenty of Chairs and Tables.. and a Full Kitchen... I have a big grill I can set-up for the "burgers and dogs"

If Mother Nature isn't good to us we have a back-up. I can't wait for Sunday!

LSP is located right next to the Ellacoya State Beach... to get to the Pavillion... go straight into LSP...at the first stop sign.. go straight .. the Pavillion is "Up the Hill" you can't miss it.

Many many many thanks to SteveA for arranging such a fabulous alternative in the event of foul weather!!!

So, with the forecast predicting showers and a possible thunderstorm, is there anyone who wants to start deciding now, or do we wait one more day before deciding? Please post thoughts on whether or not we move to LSP!

Default Another Vote for Lakeshore Park

According to Josh Judge's weather forecast on WMUR this morning, Sunday is going to be windy with possible rain and/or thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Even if it doesn't rain, the wind would be a real pain, especially with all the raffle items, ticket cups, food, etc. spread out on the tables. If it does rain, that would, of course, put a real damper (pun intended ) on things.

Because of the probability of strong wind and the possibility of rain/thunderstorms, we vote to move FFIII to the Lakeshore Park Pavilion. It's great that such a facility has been made available for the event, so let's take advantage of it and then we'll all have a great time no matter what the weather is.

Thanks much, SteveA!

Smile LSP is OK I say

I say are we men or we wussie-boys from France ? Rain, wind, sleet, hail ... these things didn't stop us from sending a man to the moon ! No siree, I say damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead. I say ... ouch ... Honey why are you slapping me ... well sure it'll be a wee bit ugly but ... OK, where was I. Oh yes, I say sure another vote for LSP. I mean it would be downright insulting to turn down SteveA's generous offer.

Default I vote for LSP

In my opinion with the impending poor weather (rain and high winds), we should go ahead and change the venue of the FFIII to the LSP Pavilion.

SteveA was nice enough to invite me to give a talk on the history of LSP last month at the Pavilion. The facilities were great. They have a giant wide screen TV that we can use to play our DVD videos on the history of Lake Winnipesaukee, and to show our photos if you have them on DVD.

SteveA, in order for us to go wireless with our laptops, we will need access to the security code that LSP has on their wireless system.

The facility couldn't be better for our type of event. We would have electric power available, tables and chairs, the DVD/CD widescreen TV system. rest rooms, and parking. What could be better? Organizers, let's change the location of FFIII now, so everyone will have time to get the word.

I also recommend that we pass the hat for donations to the Lake Shore Park Scholarship Fund. I know that SteveA is actively involved in collecting for this fund, and it would be a great way for us to show our gratitude to the LSP Association for letting us have our FFIII at their facility.

Default Anyone Opposed?

OK, so far it's unanimous to change the location to the Lakeshore Park pavilion. Unless anyone can think of a good reason not to make the change, let's consider the decision made: FFIII will take place at the LSP pavilion. Going once ... Going twice ....

Default All is set...

To All,

LSP paperwork is all done and approved... Lakegeezer is going to bring a webcam/laptop and I'll have the Big TV and wireless highspeed ready to go.

Tables, Chairs and Kitchen will be ready to go.

Carguy is kind to suggest the Lakeshore Park Memorial Scholarship fund... (Thank You) but....... I really want all the dollars raised go to Peppers Jar..

I work on the LSP fund... and it's in good shape... (Maybe next year some forum members will come to our annual golf outing at Pheasant Ridge.. )

I look forward to seeing everyone...

Please remember the 10 MPH rule.. and while there is plenty of parking around the pavillion... be sure you don't block any driveways.

Lakegeezer may want some time before we start to set up the webcam. I've PM'd him with a way to get ahold of me.

Default LSP 's great.

this is fine with me. cut's my commute in half. Only bad thing is I may run into one of the girls I used to dance with at the Pavilion when I stayed at the "Wee Hoose". Hopefully after 50 something years, she won't recognize me .

Nice Job Steve A...and let me know about you golf thingee at Pheasant Ridge next year. Wifey and I may try to help you out if we can.

Well, I held off posting this as long as I could, hoping I could figure out a way to make it there. But it's not going to work.

Between sporting events, leaving for Asia in a few days, and other obligations, I won't be able to carve out a 6 hour window tomorrow (4 hr round trip+2 hrs at Fest) When the date was debated, I completely forgot that this is Bolton Fair weekend, a big country fair that a good friend runs.

The camera link works for me and I'll try to check in electronically. Have a great time all!

Waterbaby - you have a good point there! I'll see if I can arrange something like that.

Merrymeeting - so sorry your schedule is so hectic. We were all hoping this year you'd be able to join us, but with a plate-full like yours, I can certainly understand how it's impossible. Somehow we'll have to try and be merry, meeting without you.

Pepper, I didn't think I'd be able to make it up to the fest in time to deliver the two items for the raffle, so make sure that you get the addresses of the winners and I'll mail them direct from home to the winner of each of the raffle items I donated. Thank you and have a swell time. (Thats the disaster/emergency pet kit and the Winni book). By the way hope you got my check and info in time this week.
