Skunk Removal
Can anybody recommend a good pest control company in the Meredith, Moultonborough area. We seem to have at least one skunk living very close to our house. My dog keeps finding it but I can't seem to.

Who ever you use make sure to pay a flat fee for no matter how many catch at the same location. It could be a different one each time your dog finds one but from the same nest/family. If you pay for catching and removing 1 there could still be others.
I had a friend a number of years ago pay the 1 per trap method instead of a flat fee for as many as they catch at the same location and ended up with 7 that had to be removed. They thought there would only be 1 or 2. The skunks were living under a bump out (with no basement under it) of an older home. The cost ended up being about double the flat fee rate.

Plan on several
I loaned a large live trap to friends with skunk problems at a horse barn. So far they have trapped and relocated 8 skunks using dog biscuits for bait. They throw a tarp over the trap, load the trap in the back of a pick-up and take the critter for a ride for remote release. They have managed this without getting “skunked”.
Now skunks can travel quite a ways so maybe some of the 8 made more than one round trip. So you can carefully do-it-yourself or hire someone but plan on more than one. |
