Pine Island Cam - in time for ice out!
I'm happy to report that the Pine Island Cam is back up - however it is in a somewhat manual mode right now. I will try to get at least one shot a day posted until ice out and we can get over to the island.
After spending at least 2 hours on the phone per weekend for the last few weeks with Fairpoint... I finally found the ONE guy there that knows something about FTP and could reconfigure their mess to make it behave (almost) like my old Verizon site. The webcam is now posting pictures once per minute, however I still need to log into the site to move them to the "public" portion... Fairpoint says they will correct that shortly HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! For now - check out the ice out progress at: http://home.myfairpoint.net/pineisla...eIslandGuy.jpg note the URL is too long to display and is truncated, however the link should work. "The only change in your transition from Verizon to Fairpoint will be the address of your personal webspace" - - - NOT!!! PIG Last edited by Pine Island Guy; 04-06-2009 at 06:17 AM. Nice!
Thanks Pine Island Guy for fixing your Pine Island Cam for ice-out! I've really missed it being part of my daily hits.
Sorry the Verizon to Fairpoint transition has been such a headache for you. I think Verizon was smart to get out of the land line business. Many of us are foregoing the service for our cell phones. |

Agreed RG. It looks like Fairpoint may doing the same except going about it the hard way. They have not been very impressive in their takeover so far.
