Default Boating Activity Greater Than Usual

At marinas the spring launch is proceeding ahead of schedule.

Too many people have nothing else to do right now... I'm not surprised at all. Good for them, I'm jealous!! My boat is still under shrink wrap as I type this, and I'm not sure when I will have a chance to get to it. I have been very fortunate to have worked through all this corona virus BS, and have a very busy spring ahead of me, so my goal to be in the water will be Memorial Day weekend for my maiden voyage of the season!

Default Quite A Few Boats Out There

I've noticed the same thing. Some of the first boats I saw were fishing boats, but lately it's been a good mix. I've also seen a couple of jetskis (yesterday).

My boat is getting launched some time next week. The boatyard that services and stores my boat is prepping it for launch. I usually get my boat launched no later than the second weekend in May, though I often have it in before that.

I am going to assume that most of the boats we've seen are indeed owned by locals and not summerfolk.

I agree. Boat traffic is much heavier than usual for now.

Default When does summer start?

For many folks, summer starts when school is done. Since school is done for the year, I expect many refugees from the south are starting their summer, at least getting opened up. It's too cold to swim, so what to do? Go boating.

Last Saturday was very busy with both fishing and recreational boats, much more than usual. It was a really nice day vs. Sunday which was a lot slower

Yesterday was beautiful and as such quite a bit of people out there enjoying a perfect day on the lake.

Those on jetskis are nuts, the water is still in the 40's. BRRRRR!

Well if they are throwing them back in I hope I don't catch one that's been given the virus.

Why wouldn't the season start early? We have an awesome winter, and early ice out and the conditions are prime to be out early.

Agreed. Been a lousy spring so far for early boating, with maybe 2 or 3 exceptions so far, as far as nice days go. I don't feel as if I'm missing anything yet...

Got my boat uncovered today, and all ready to go. Fired right up, ran like a top. Just needs a little cleaning which I like to do on the water. Looking forward to, and hoping for some good boating weather on Memorial Day weekend...
