Meredith tax dollars hard at work
So it's nice to see that the town of Meredith has the budget to pay two people to sit at the boat launch at Sheps, somebody who is with the MPD the other runs around with a clip board collecting $$ from those launching. Wonder what that costs the tax payers?
EVEN BETTER, the kid that is doing the boat fee collection decides to take it upon himself to park his car in the ONLY spot at ramp designated for 15 minute parking for those that need to load and unload. I actually saw him move it from a spot in the parking lot that was only about 2 spots up from end. So they are down there hassling people if they leave their boat a minute over 3 hours at the dock, but they can do whatever they want with no repercussions. Shameful to say the least. |

....... an honor system, steel, fee collection box.
The town should install an honor system, steel, fee collection box and most all boaters would probably be good with sliding the $20-cash into the box when there's no attendant there.
This is what the Forest Service has all across the WMNF hiking, parking lots, where it costs five dollars to park, and it works good. With an honor system pay box, it would pull in so much money, that Meredith could lower the fee back to fifteen dollars and still make more than with $20.
