The final parade into Green's Basin has always been on Sunday. I guess they are now changing it to Saturday.

Arrow Saturday or Sunday

Saturday or Sunday for the last parade had not been 100% decided yet. A lot of the steamboats head out early on Sunday and miss out on the last parade. A Saturday parade would fix that. When I know for sure, I will update.

We took the trip up to Lee's Mills yesterday. There were a good number of steam boats and a Stanley steam car on land as well. It's always fun to see and hear the boats and chat with the people who build and maintain them.

I'd especially like to thank Captain Ken and First Mate Dottie of the steamer "Melvin". They very kindly offered my wife and I as well as two other couples a terrific ride up through Greens Basin and back. It's a great way to see this part of the lake and fun to see the kids on shore signaling the captains to toot their whistles as well.

We made the trip up to Lee's Mills yesterday to watch the parade. Past years, there were many steamers that participated in the parade, and that is what is was, a parade. A steady stream of steamers.
Yesterday, the parade was somewhat disorganized, and not a large number of boats participated. Those that did were wonderful to watch and I thank them for their participation. One in particular had a steam whistle with which he could make a seemingly infinite variety of sounds. Reminded us of someone with a slide whistle. Another had a cannon mounted on the bow, which when fired was a booming success.

Great day on the lake, fun watching those who did participate, and will go back (hopefully) next year. Wish we could go again next Sunday.

Dave

The only thing I have seen is Sunday. Rattlesnake Gal has indicated that next Sunday is not cast in stone. She is quite well connected and you may want to send her a PM to see if she has any newer or other info. Or contact Dave Thompson at 474-2224. He seems to be the head honcho.

Default Steamboats

Was heading into Pier 19 a few minutes ago and thought there was a boat fire. To my surprise

It's not every boat that can stop at the fuel dock and actually use the dock for fuel.

Saw the parade today as it circled around Raouls cove. It was pretty cool. They had spectacular weather for it.

The steamboats are gone once again until next year. I saw the last one on a trailer leaving Lee's Mills Sunday afternoon.
