Default Bye Bye Camp

Well we had a good run this year. First trip out to Welch March 20th in the Wife's Whaler and then 1st overnight April 2nd.

We closed up today a little more than 7 months from the 1st trip out. The Slickcraft is going to get lifted up in the covered slip in a day or two so it was time to close. The seasonal dock is up and the flag is down. Most on Welch have closed up however it looks like ishoot308 plans on a little more time.

We may make a trip out in Nov in the Whaler if there is one of those days that one can't resist.

Have a good winter Slickcraft!

We will start closing up this weekend, maybe put one of the boats away in storage and keep one out for one more weekend. Most likely next weekend will be our last weekend at the island camp.

Always be careful what you post. It has been all over the news that thieves look at forums/posts/facebook etc. People post all sorts of things like, when they will be on vacation, when they are out of town for the weekend etc. They might as well put a sign on their door saying, house is empty, welcome. I know island homes are empty during the winter months but no need to show a picture of your house and tell the thieves that you won't be there. Sad that this happens but that is the world today....even at the lake as we all saw last year with the bobhouse break ins

It is true that people watch what you post. Last April we took the kids to the Bahamas for vacation. The kids posted out on Facebook that they were leaving. There was quite a party at our place in Meredith for 5 days straight. Fortunately our neighbor had a feeling after a couple of days that something wasnt right and got pictures of people and cars. We found them and pressed charges. What still gets me is the fact that we dont rent our place out and the neighbor did not think to call.

We said bye-bye to our place, too. But, unfortunately, it was for the last time. After 67 years. A phone cam shot from our last night.

Grant, did you used to have a totem pole on your property? Maybe in the
60s?

Default Denial

We are in denial, closing is so hard when we are still having days like today and sunsets like this evening.

Default I'm jealous!

Looks like a great day at the lake. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Good luck taking out the dock. The water looks like it might be a bit cool.

The dock is the easy part and the water is low right now, going back up on Friday to take the last 2 sections out and officially close.

Here is our new web cam capturing the dock process, thanks to "brk" for helping out with the web cam.

Default Ouch!

You guys are killing me. I can not wait until Ice Out, again. Funny how such a concept/event takes on such significance. To toast to all winni admirers!

Smile No, No to BYE camp

One needs to only pick up the leaves with their LT1046 Cub Cadet tractor with the 2 bagger system as the leaves fall until they are all down. Then they just have to load the trailer to the tractor and lug a few loads of firewood to the farmers porch, take care of all the snow removal equipment such as oil changes chains on both the small pieces of equipment and then sit back on the farmers porch in the sun and watch all the goings on with the Mergansers and geese. Now that is what you call not closing the camp, cottage and/or home. We can enjoy and see something new every time we look at the lake, mountains and the sky. The good lord is watching over all of us.

May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving as my wife and I intend to with our kids and grand kids.
