A pair of Snowball Turkeys....

Not Butterball, but maybe Snowball Turkeys? They crossed the road in front of me and were having a tough time walking in the deep snow. There were actually a few more right to the left of these. Part of that group that has been up and down RT 109 for the past few years. What the heck do these things eat during the winter?

For the last five years, I have a flock of twenty four turkeys that hang out In my back yard.they roost In the trees about twenty five feet up and swoop down Early In the morning and then line up and strut through the neighborhood for the day. they look to be about eighteen Lbs. or more.

I know about the roosting part. One day coming down 109 just after 19 mile bay is the PAK2000 place. All of a sudden about ten of the turkeys came a fluttering down out of the trees and there were Turkeys all over the road.
Luckily I got stopped in time, or I'd of been having Turkey for Dinner, Lunch and Breakfast for a month!

I just had two turkey's roosting in a couple of my tree's. I threw out some corn for them to eat and down they came. The crows came also. I know many people don't like crows, but I do. For some reason I feel they will bring me good luck.

Oh yeah. Love the Crows when at 6am on a Sunday morning they are sitting in a tree outside my bedroom window doing the Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, Caw, thing.........

I sleep right through all the cawing. They can continue to caw all day. We don't have close neighbors so the crows aren't bothering anyone. You can send your crows my way. I will make sure they are fed and happy.

We have woods all around our house, and the crows, even in the summer when the windows are open, don't bother me either. Ummmm, what dear? Huh? Will you please speak up? Dear, I can't hear you!!!!

I have them in my yard all the time. I have counted over 50 at times. We have two males that really frequent which I call Salt and Pepper because they are here a lot. One has lighter feathers and one has darker hence, Salt and Pepper. Although there faces are not all that pretty, if you catch them in the sun there feathers are really beautiful. Here are a couple of pics. They love sunflower or any kind of seeds from the bird feeders as well as seeds and berries off the trees. They are quite amusing to watch when they go to roost at sunset. When the snow was really deep it looked like they were swimming in it.
